Zoe Ball has revealed firefighters rushed to her home on Monday.

During her breakfast show on Radio 2, the 52-year-old star explained how she left a candle lit in her empty house.

She told listeners: ‘What happened to me for the first time was that yesterday the fire brigade went to my house.

‘I had left a candle burning in the lounge. I was so obsessed with The Matrix and making a cake on Sunday that I went out and didn’t blow out any of the candles.

‘It continued to smolder in the lounge and at 9.25am my smoke detectors went off, thank goodness! Otherwise I might have gone home, to no home!’
