Mount Disappointment stabbing: Ilknur Caliskan charged with murder of husband after alleged knife attack during camping trip

A woman who allegedly stabbed her husband to death while camping with friends has no memory of the incident, her lawyer has claimed.

Serdar Caliskan, 50, was found with a stab wound in a car on Spur Road in Clonbinane, near Mount Disappointment north of Melbourne, at 11.30pm on Saturday. He died on the spot.

His wife, Ilknur Caliskan, 46, was arrested at the scene on Sunday afternoon and charged with murder.

Caliskan appeared at the Shepparton Magistrates Court on Monday, where her lawyer Marcus Denning said his client did not understand what allegedly happened on Saturday evening.

“She doesn’t remember anything related to any kind of violence,” he said Herald Sun reported.

“It’s an unusual case with no evidence of intent to commit murder, no motive and no evidence of prior violence.”

Caliskan and her husband, who had been married for 25 years, had gone on a camping trip with three other couples this weekend.

Their two adult children are shocked by the alleged attack and say their parents were “very happy” and had recently enjoyed a trip abroad to Turkey together.

It is understood the group was sitting around a campfire when Mr Caliskan was injured.

Mr Denning said the couple’s children were supportive of their mother and will “help as much as we can to get her the treatment she needs.”

Caliskan has no criminal history and lives at home with her son and daughter in Craigieburn.

The 46-year-old will undergo a forensic psychiatric examination at the end of this month.

She cried during her court appearance, as did members of her family who said she and her husband loved each other unconditionally.

Caliskan did not apply for bail and was remanded in custody.

She will appear in court again on December 19.
