Da’vian Kimbrough becomes the youngest player in U.S. soccer history to make his professional debut… after coming on as a sub for Sacramento Republic at the age of just THIRTEEN!

Sacramento Republic forward Da’vian Kimbrough on Sunday became the youngest player in American soccer history to make his professional debut.

Kimbrough, who is 13 years, 7 months and 13 days old, entered a USL Championship match in the 87th minute of Sacramento Republic’s 2-0 win over the Las Vegas Lights.

Kimbrough, a native of Woodland, California, signed with the club in August to become the youngest professional player in U.S. soccer history.

That record previously belonged to Maximo Carrizo, who signed with the New York City FC senior team on his 14th birthday in February 2022.

The USL record for the youngest player to play in a match was held by Axel Kei, who made his debut for the Real Monarchs when he was 13 years, 9 months and 9 days old.

Kimbrough, a 6-foot-4 forward who recently attended a Mexico U-16 training camp, scored 27 goals in 31 games for Sacramento’s under-13 team in 2021. He was 11 years old at the time.

Sacramento Republic, which sits in first place in the USL Championship Western Conference standings (58 points), has two games remaining in the regular season.

In a video posted to the team’s Twitter account, Kimbrough received some last-minute encouragement before being brought onto the field.

While he waits on the sidelines for his moment, he is enthusiastically welcomed by the crowd during the match.
