Brooloo crash: Eleanor thought her heartbreak couldn’t get any worse after watching her son Jorn die in a horror car crash. This weekend the unthinkable happened
A family is facing unimaginable grief after both their sons died in fatal traffic accidents three years apart.
Cale Gilbert-Hall, 19, was killed on Saturday when his Mitsubishi Lancer struck a tree on Rodwell Road near Brooloo, inland from Queensland’s Sunshine Coast.
The wreckage went unnoticed for several hours and by the time paramedics arrived at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, Cale was dead.
The tragedy occurred three years and three weeks after another horror crash on Yabba Creek Rd, Imbil, which tragically killed Cale’s older brother, Jorn Gilbert-Hall, 21.

Their mother Eleanor Hall, a firefighter, was one of the first on the scene of Jorn’s accident.
Her crew cut off the roof of Jorn’s crumpled Toyota Camry, which was wrapped around a pole.
Once she was given access, Ms Hall desperately tried to support the 21-year-old’s neck and airway, telling him: ‘It’s OK’.
He died the next day in his mother’s arms in hospital after suffering an ‘irsurvivable brain injury’.
“There are no words to describe the tragic loss this family has suffered,” family friend Hayley Green wrote on a television page fundraising page to help the family pay for Cale’s funeral.
“Just three years ago, this beautiful family mourned the loss of their son/brother Jorn Gilbert-Hall and are now incredibly mourning the loss of Cale.

‘Cale is succeeded by his father George Gilbert, his mother Eleanor Hall and his three siblings Odin, Jera and Jedd.’
“He’s my boy, I was grateful I could be there and help him,” Mrs Hall told the Sunshine Coast Daily after Jorn’s death.
‘I am grateful that as a mother and firefighter I was able to support, hold and kiss him in those moments.’
Ten people were killed in a horror weekend on Queensland roads, with Acting Assistant Police Commissioner Chris Stream calling it one of the worst in recent memory.
