Grandfather Andy Singh, 63, who was traveling to Thailand for a month-long holiday, was on the plane and said: ‘The lady and the man were already drunk. They kept talking about money, he said ‘She’s got my £5,000 in her bag’.

‘The captain said, “We have to go back to Vienna for the safety of the staff and the safety of the passengers. Ladies and gentlemen, we have no choice but to go back to Vienna.”

Andy said, “The police took the lady away first.

“(The man) decided to take the lady’s bag after a few minutes on the tarmac, but the lady simply threw away all £5,000.”

Both were put into a police van and footage shows an officer trying to collect some of the money scattered around.

Andy said: ‘Some notes floated away because no one picked them up, they just picked up the nearest ones.’
