Aussies across the country are enjoying a relaxing few days as another long weekend gets underway.
Commonly referred to as the ‘October long weekend’, the ACT, New South Wales, South Australia, Queensland and some parts of Tasmania all have a bank holiday on Monday.
When each holiday comes around, it’s always a little confusing as to which stores will be open.
To make things a little easier, we’ve checked the trading times of some major retailers so you don’t find yourself shortchanged.

Woolworths
Monday October 2:
- QLD: all stores open
- NSW: all shops open
- ACT: all shops open
- SA: most shops closed
Coles
Monday October 2:
- QLD: all stores open
- NSW: all shops open
- ACT: all shops open
- SA: all shops closed except Port Lincoln, Berri, Port Augusta, Mount Barker, Adelaide Rundle Place, Whyalla Westlands, Murray Bridge, Mount Gambier and Victor Harbor

Aldi and IGA
Most Aldi stores will continue to operate as normal, although customers are encouraged to check the online store locator for the opening hours of their local store.
Because IGA stores are independently owned, opening hours will vary from store to store: some stores will operate as normal, while others may have limited opening hours. IGA customers can check trading hours at their local IGA or online

- NSW: All stores are open, opening from 7am to 10am and closing from 4pm to 8pm. 24-hour shops are open normally.
- ACT: All shops open, 8pm-8pm
- SA: Firle, Tea Tree, Munno Para, Ingle Farm, Kurralta Park, West Lakes, Port Noarlunga, Port Adelaide and Churchill all closed. All other stores are open from 9:00 PM to 5:00 PM

Monday October 2:
- QLD: All stores open from 9:00 PM to 5:00 PM
- NSW: All shops are open, closing 1-2 hours early
- ACT: Belconnen and Tuggeranong are both open from 9pm to 5pm
