Strictly’s Adam Thomas fights back tears as he ‘let down partner Luba Mushtuk’ during their performance – after being forced to miss training

Adam Thomas fought back tears during the second live show of Strictly Come Dancing on Saturday night.

The actor, 35, admitted he felt like he had ‘let his partner Luba Mushtuk down’ during their performance as they waited for their score.

Adam missed a whole day of training while juggling filming for BBC school drama series Waterloo Road earlier this week and struggled to keep his emotions in check.

The duo danced a tango to Somebody Told Me by Maneskin and scored a total of 23 points from the judges.

After their dance, Adam said he wouldn’t be smiling much longer when host Claudia checked on him.

He explained: ‘I tried my best and I feel like I just let you down’

‘Adam! It’s week two and the judges said the choreography was brilliant and they enjoyed your performance!’ Claudia exclaimed as she tried to reassure him.

He continued: “I did my best tonight and hopefully that’s enough.”

It’s the first week that the couples will dance for survival in the first public vote, with one couple set to exit the competition during Sunday’s results show.

Adam revealed he was forced to miss training for this week’s episode of Strictly Come Dancing due to work commitments.

In the role that launched his career, the actor is currently back starring as Donte in Waterloo Road alongside fellow co-stars Kym Marsh and Angela Griffin.

The show was restarted last year after being canceled in 2015 and Adam shared a photo of Donte’s costume rail, writing: ‘I’m missing a day’s practice today… but it’s all worth it. Work is work! Let’s go Donte!!!’

Adam took to Instagram ahead of the live show and reached out to fans after the dress rehearsal.

But it wasn’t a relaxing lunch break for the star, who used the time to learn his lines for next Monday’s filming.

Adam laughed: ‘Just learning lines for Monday, I don’t know how long I can keep this up. I’ll be honest, but we’re trying!’

The father-of-two also admitted that this week’s show will be a special one as his children, Teddy, nine, and Elsie, five, come to watch.

Adam explained: “It’s a special one because my kids come to watch me. I can’t wait to see their faces.’
