Strictly’s Angela Scanlon reveals there’s one show tradition she will NOT follow after admitting it took 15 years to come to terms with her appearance

Angela Scanlon has revealed that while she has embraced her glitzy Strictly makeover, there is one show tradition she won’t be sticking to.

The presenter, 39, has revealed she drew the line at having a spray tan during her time on the show after refusing to cover up her naturally pale skin.

Angela, who works with professional dancer Carlos Gu, previously admitted that it took her 15 years to accept her skin color. She shared this insight during an appearance on Michael McIntyre’s The Wheel, where her specialty was redheads.

She said at the time: ‘I used to wear it and I know a lot of redheads who wear it and are very uncomfortable with their pale skin – but not me.

‘I have been trying to recognize the fact that I have pale skin for fifteen years. You don’t need fake tan to feel confident. I want to show that the sexy feeling for me comes from being myself, and not from how orange my legs are.’

After ditching her fake tan for her TV appearance, Angela has now revealed she has become a role model for other fans with flaming hair.

She said The sun: ‘I feel really touched when I receive a message from someone who says that their daughter suddenly thinks it’s okay not to wear fake tan, because she saw me on television with my white legs out.

‘I never felt that when I was young. I’ve never seen anyone so pale on television, and obviously there are varying levels of that in so many minorities.

‘There has been absolutely no backlash from Strictly. If you want to wear brown, you wear it. If you don’t do it, you don’t do it.’

Angela, who will be dancing the Jive with Carlos during Saturday’s live show, also said she had to intensify her pelvic floor exercises during training.

The Your Home Made Perfect presenter is mum to daughters Ruby, five, and Marnie, 19 months.

The bottom line is that Angela was reported to the police because the video obtained by MailOnline was uploaded to her Instagram account before being hastily deleted.

Angela said: ‘I definitely made the wrong decision when I filmed this video. I came home from rehearsals feeling giddy with excitement.

“That’s not an excuse because what I did was stupid and I’m sorry I let my excitement get the better of my judgment.”

In the clip, Angela can be heard laughing as she performs the dangerous sequence while the car travels at high speed.

A source told MailOnline: ‘Angela thought she was laughing and pretended she was on Strictly.

‘But leaning out of a moving car is incredibly dangerous and she should know better.

‘Her place on Strictly will not be in jeopardy, but she will be warned about her behavior in the future.’

Angela made a promising start to her Strictly debut last Saturday, winning praise from the judges for her Tango routine to the Miley Cyrus song Prisoner.

Anton de Beke said: ‘The drama, the intensity, the involvement was wonderful.’

And Craig Revel Horwood added that although her arms were ‘a little bit loose’, Angela’s attacks were ‘fantastic’.
