Alison Hammond reveals Paul Hollywood gave her the ‘VIP treatment’ on first day of filming Great British Bake Off

Alison Hammond has revealed that Paul Hollywood gave her the ‘VIP treatment’ on her first day of filming for The Great British Bake Off.

The new presenter, 48, who made her debut on the Channel 4 show this week, discussed her memorable first trip to the tent with the judge, 57.

Speaking on The One Show on Friday, Alison said Paul offered her a lift in his Lamborghini but vowed never to do it again after she ‘screamed’.

Joined by fellow Bake Off presenter Noel Fielding and presenters Alex Jones and Roman Kemp, the group giggled as the This Morning star recalled the trip.

Alison admitted that Paul’s kind gesture did not have the desired effect as she “struggled to get into the ‘little car’ and then went on the ‘most terrifying ride’ of her life.”

She began, “So on the first day he asked, ‘Do you want a ride to the hotel?’ so I said ‘Yes, great’ and he has a really nice car – a bit of a Lamborghini – and I’ve never been in a car like that before.”

Noel added: “It looked like Batman’s car, didn’t it?”

“It looked like Batman’s car,” she agreed before continuing, “I mean, it was a struggle for me to get into it in the first place. I had to get into the car first, it’s like it’s on the ground. So unladylike, my legs were wide open.

“I finally got in and said, ‘Where am I going to put my bag?’ I have my bag with me, and he just asked someone else to take it.

“So I got in the car, let’s just say I’m never going to do it again, it was the most terrifying ride I’ve ever had in my entire life. It was so scary.’

Making her debut on Channel 4 spin-off Extra Slice earlier this week, Alison said: ‘Paul took me out in one of his sports cars. That won’t happen again. I think the louder I screamed, the faster she went.”

This series took Alison over from Matt Lucas as Noel Fielding’s co-host and proved a hit with viewers who tuned in to watch.

Viewers of the Channel 4 series have said it was a ‘brilliant move’ to hire the bubbly presenter for the show which saw her take over from former presenter Matt.

The Birmingham native felt right at home alongside veteran presenter Noel Fieling as she greeted the contestants and talked about their bakes.

Alison appeared in a sketch at the beginning of the episode called ‘The Breadfather’ where she was presented as a ‘new addition to the family’.

As she approached ‘Breadfather’ Paul Hollywood, Alison kissed a giant loaf of bread on the judge’s desk.

He then said: ‘It’s day one of series 14, why has it taken so long to come to me?’

Alison replied, “I don’t mean to brag on Breadfather, but I’ve been very busy. Daytime TV, presenter of the BAFTAs and I was in a Stormzy video.’
