AFL great Wayne Carey is DROPPED by Triple M radio after Crown Casino ban due to bag of white powder

Triple M has decided not to renew AFL great Wayne Carey’s radio contract after this year.

On Wednesday, the station confirmed that Carey, 51, will not be part of their football coverage in 2023.

Carey was taken off the air late last month after being booted from Perth’s Crown Casino when a bag containing a powdered substance fell from his pocket while he was gambling.

The former North Melbourne champion said the bag contained a crushed, legal painkiller – believed to be Aleve – which he was taking to treat neck and shoulder injuries stemming from his career in the AFL.

Southern Cross Radio’s chief content officer Dave Cameron wished Carey the best for 2023 and beyond when the announcement was made on Wednesday.

“On behalf of Triple M, we would like to thank Wayne for his services to our football commentary team and we wish him the best for the future,” said Cameron. The age.

Carey’s future with Channel Seven as an expert commentator remains cloudy.

The two-time premiership winner reached an agreement with Seven under which he would resign until the WA police investigation is completed.

Carey also chose not to submit his weekly column to The Age, where the newspaper would rate its columnists at the end of the AFL season.

The ex-kangaroo has since asked why the police were not called if he had done something wrong.

“They’ve had twice the chance to call the police,” he said. “If what was said had happened, the police should have been called immediately.

“They got another chance when I went to my room to call the police and they never called the police.”

Speaking over dinner at Wagga Wagga RSL Club in the Riverina district of NSW last week, the champion center forward even shed light on his situation, which could end his media career.

“I thought, you know what, the easy decision would have been to curl up in a ball,” Carey told the crowd at the function held by a group called the Good Blokes Society.

‘To get into a ball and stay in Melbourne and not be seen for a while.

‘And then my miss’ [Jessica Paulke] said to me, ‘Actually you haven’t done anything wrong, you haven’t been charged. You’re not going to jail.’

Carey added that Paulke had told him to “walk for a long time” and he was grateful for her advice.

But the fallen star is anything but a good guy in the eyes of many football fans.

His past behavior includes domestic violence and infidelity dating back many years.

Most notably, in 2002, he had a sexual relationship with Kelli, wife of Kangaroos Vice Captain Anthony Stevens, in a bathroom.

Carey has previously attacked police who were trying to arrest him in Australia and the United States.

The man they call “Duck” also admitted to having previously abused cocaine and alcohol.

The retired footballer has revealed he can sue Crown after being given a two-year suspension – and he has retained the services of Maurice Blackburn Lawyers’ Josh Bornstein.

Bornstein is reportedly investigating a possible “disability discrimination claim” against the gaming giant, stating that Carey was ejected under the “presumption that the bag contained an illegal drug”.

“Mr Carey is being prescribed anti-inflammatories and analgesic drugs to help manage the significant pain caused by debilitating football injuries, including a shoulder that requires replacement and a neck injury that requires three disc replacements,” said Mr Bornstein.
