Inside the mind of depraved dog rapist Adam Britton: Vile texts reveal crocodile expert’s twisted childhood

A depraved crocodile expert sent disgusting text messages to Telegram users under the name ‘Monster’, bragging about how he tortured small animals as a child, harassed horses as a 13-year-old and encouraged others to rape and kill dogs.
Adam Britton, 52, pleaded guilty in the Darwin Supreme Court on Monday to about 50 charges relating to animal cruelty, bestiality and possession of child exploitation material.
According to court documents seen by Daily Mail Australia, the once respected academic and zoologist tracked down around 42 dogs on Gumtree Australia over a two-year period for the sole purpose of torturing the animals to death on camera.
Britton often arranged to take dogs from families forced to give up their pets due to work or health problems, and once described seeing children crying as he took their beloved pets away.
He was arrested in April 2022 when an anonymous internet user saw a female dog wearing an orange City of Darwin leash in one of his online videos.
However, texts submitted to the court show that Britton was abusing animals long before he was even on the radar of local authorities.
“I always knew I had it in me,” he once said in a private chat.

He ran two Telegram accounts between 2020 and 2022 under the names ‘Monster’ and ‘Cerberus’ – the latter being a three-headed dog in Greek mythology – through which he sent images of the abuse to other depraved people.
During these conversations, he spoke freely about his disturbing bestiality fantasies that began when he was a school-age boy growing up in England.
One conversation took place between August and December 2021, with a Telegram user named “Gorvaged” who described Britton as a “good friend” because of their shared sick obsession.
“I remember being sadistic towards small animals when I was maybe seven or eight, and I suppressed it, but it didn’t really start to come out in my fantasies again until I was in my 20s and 30s,” Britton said, under the pseudonym ‘Monster’.
He described himself as a “zoosadist,” meaning he derived sexual pleasure from animal abuse.
In the messages he wrote: ‘I became a zoo (sadist) when I was… well, probably about twelve.
‘I vaguely remember being interested in animals before then, but then it became sexual. I started fence jumping when I was 13 or 14 and harassing horses.”

He gave advice on how to find dogs to kill, and the best ways to lie to owners – including special care not to appear ‘creepy’.
“Have a decent story (sob stories are best, your poor dog is dead, you want another one etc) and be genuine, kind, not creepy,” he said
‘Owner is looking for a good ‘forever home’ for their beloved dog, make sure you offer them one. Use fake numbers and addresses, walk away if it doesn’t feel right or easy, and try again if it doesn’t work out.’
Britton’s online friend asked on behalf of another user called ‘Mr Fear’ if he had ever taken a dog away from a crying relative.
“A crying daughter or something?”
Britton said: “Every time there is a child there is crying. Each. Time.’
In another conversation with a user dubbed “Deleted Account 11” by police, Brittonj said in September 2021, “I was talking to someone else about why I like to hurt dogs, and that’s what I was thinking.”
‘At first I wasn’t sure, but now I live for it. I can’t stop myself.’
Court documents show that Britton had conversations primarily with these two users, but Deleted Account 11 seemed relatively new to the world of zoosadism.

In November 2021, the pair had a disturbing conversation in which Britton admitted that he felt guilty the first time he killed a dog, but overcame this by killing more dogs.
Britton asked, “Do you want to try to torture or sniff a dog?” It’s worth it.’
Account 11 deleted: ‘God, yes I do. Did you do it?’
Britton: ‘Yes, I did. It will change your life for the better 😉
Account 11 deleted: ‘Oh, I’d love to hear all about it! Were you nervous?’
Britton: ‘The first time? Yeah, I think I was. I mean, I certainly was. And afterwards there was even some regret, but that passed quickly and a week later I did another one. And I haven’t regretted it. And then another, and another, etc.’
Deleted account 11 and then called Britton ‘inspirational’.
At one point, as Britton described the pain he inflicted on dogs – once dragging the same animal for four days – Deleted Account 11 said: ‘Damn, everything you say is so hot x.’
Before his twisted habits were exposed, Britton (pictured during an interview with Triple J) was a respected zoologist and crocodile expert
During the conversations, Britton sent dozens of videos to his depraved friend, showing him abusing the helpless animals.
In December 2021, Britton and a user identified by police as Deleted Account 14 had a conversation about Gorvaged, who appeared to have died unexpectedly.
Deleted account 14 said: ‘He was a cornerstone of this community.’
Britton replied, “I should probably delete our chat history, but…I don’t want to.
“I don’t think his family will know how much he was respected by our little community but… that’s probably for the best lol! God damn it, life is short.’
Court documents also detailed child abuse videos found on Britton’s computer, some of which he appeared to have obtained through other Telegram users.
A user calling himself “Clark Kent” offered to send Britton a video of a baby being abused.
Britton wrote: ‘I’m curious to see that one. I mean, generally it’s not my thing, but sometimes you know… ;).”
The conversations invariably returned to animal abuse and necrostiality, that is, sexual intercourse with a dead animal.
Britton was caught in April last year, after which he uploaded a video called ‘1B***h9Pups’ to an abuse website on March 22, 2022.

The next day, an anonymous Internet user noticed that the adult female dog was wearing an orange City of Darwin leash with the slogan “great pets start with you.”
They forwarded the images via Gmail to the NT Animal Welfare Branch, who then referred the case to police.
On April 22, a month after Britton posted the video online, NT Police and Australian Federal Police raided his home in McMinns Lagoon, southern Darwin.
Detectives seized computers, cell phones, cameras, external hard drives, tools, weapons, dog paraphernalia and sex toys.
They also found severed dog limbs in a freezer, a decomposing puppy in a pond on the property, and a severed dog’s head on a neighboring property.
Britton was charged with 37 counts of animal cruelty, 10 counts of rape or attempted rape of a dog, and four counts of possessing or transmitting child abuse material.
He has been in pre-trial detention since his arrest and will appear in court again on December 13 for sentencing.
