Ronald Vargas, the prosecutor assigned to the case, revealed that the alleged gang rape took place around 1 a.m. on Monday in Oruro after the 12-year-old went to a cultural event with her family.
The men involved allegedly forced her to consume alcohol before the sex attack.
It has not been made clear how they managed to get her away from her family and where exactly the alleged gang rape, which prosecutors say took place in a “remote location”, had taken place.
In June last year, it was reported that the baby of a 12-year-old girl raped by her grandfather in the town of Chimore in central Bolivia had died after her religious family denied her an abortion.
