Lenny Kravitz wore his ridiculously huge scarf in debut TikTok

It’s officially fall. How do I know? Well it’s time for the meme of Lenny Kravitz in a huge blanket-sized scarf to reappear. But this time, it reappeared with a twist: The actor and musician played with the scarf meme in his first TikTok, which went live this weekend.

“Take your big scarf, it’s the first day of fall,” Kravtiz says as he walks toward the camera, wearing the famous scarf.

This moment lasted a decade. On a fateful day in November 2012, a paparazzi photographer captured an image of Kravitz while he went shopping while wearing a scarf of gigantic proportions. The scarf is fascinating. It’s a Kravitz cocoon, if you will.

The editors, of course, immediately loved the image and, in later years, began retouching the scarf to make it even larger. Some editors even cosplayed as Kravtiz in his fall outfitOr identical knitted scarves.

More than five years later, Jimmy Fallon asked Kravitz about the scarf, on an episode of Tonight’s show. This once again catapulted the meme into the limelight. “I can’t escape it, brother,” Kravitz told Fallon. “I live in the Bahamas, I’m used to hot weather and, you see, I had to go to the store. I was out shopping, right? And I thought I would put on a little scarf to protect my throat, and that’s the scarf I had.

“But Lenny, it’s not a scarf. It’s a cover-up,” Fallon responds (correctly). Kravitz then continues by verifying that this image is indeed the scarf, but that “the scarf keeps getting bigger and bigger” thanks to Internet users.

Five years later, the scarf is back in our timeline – this time, thanks to Kravtiz himself. Happy autumn.
