Starfield patches in a round of fixes while sacrificing the infinite money glitch
from Starfield The latest patch has gone live on console and PC, adding a small number of meaningful fixes, and one that may not be so welcome to the game’s cheesier players.
That is because Starfield update 1.7.33 quickly patched an exploit that allowed players to collect a near-infinite amount of credits and supplies. The trick involved players performing various crouching maneuvers to gain access to a vendor’s entire inventory, which they could then freely loot and sell back without any of the game’s NPCs batting an eyelid.
The exploit has actually been around since the Skyrim days, where it is performed in much the same way. As a result, it didn’t take long for me to become curious Starfield players tried to make it work in the sci-fi RPG. But now brazen smugglers will have to resort to fairer ways to rake in the credits.
Fixing the infinite money glitch may have stolen the show when it comes to the game latest patch notes, but there are some nice changes elsewhere too. Bethesda has fixed a menu issue that could cause light sensitivity issues, for example.
Elsewhere, there’s been an improvement in AMD GPU performance, with lens flares in space now being rendered more accurately. Another space-related bug caused entire space stations to be labeled as a player-owned ship. That’s now also been fixed since the last update, but honestly I wish the team would have left that alone. Just for fun.
Overall, though, it’s good to see Bethesda Game Studios actively working on some of these from Starfield more glaring issues, and the team seems to be delivering patches at a fairly rapid pace. It’s already a relatively stable experience compared to previous titles in the studio’s repertoire – especially in the first month – so I’m curious to see what other improvements and quality of life updates Starfield may receive in the future.
