The mother-to-one asked, “Why are we blaming women in this situation?”
“It turned out he didn’t deserve my trust, and he sent it to some friends, and then it ended up in the school.”
“I distinctly remember walking to school and knowing it had been shared the night before and the girls wouldn’t talk to me except my friends.”
The mother-of-one said she was ostracized and ridiculed, while the boy who leaked her intimate photos was ‘defended the hell out’.
“Why are we blaming women in this situation?” she asked.
‘Every time! One-sided shaming is not okay.’
Mrs Smith said that although she was embarrassed at the time, she was now over it.
‘I don’t regret it now or feel bad about it. If any of these things came up again, I was underage… I was literally 16,” she added.
‘It can be risky, it can be sent around, if it’s on the internet it can stay there… but the shame of sending a photo… is f***ing s***.’
Ms. Smith is the co-founder of Kic, a wellness app that focuses on fitness, nutrition and mindfulness.
