Catherine Tyldesley celebrates her 40th birthday with a low-key weekend at a country house hotel with her family after she cancelled her big party after THAT cake-gate scandal

Catherine Tyldesley has given an insight into her quiet birthday weekend after canceling her big party following a ‘bizarre’ cake row with a baker.

The former Coronation Street star, 39, was embroiled in a ‘cake gate’ scandal last month after a baker refused a PR’s request to supply free cakes for the actress’ big party, which was scheduled for September 1.

After becoming embroiled in a heated online backlash, Catherine scrapped plans for the party and instead opted for a quieter celebration of the birthday milestone.

Catherine and her family instead stayed at the Mitton Hall hotel, where they enjoyed a relaxing weekend in the countryside in aid of the lavish party.

Catherine gave a sneak peek into the celebration, posting photos from an intimate family dinner and stay at the Clitheroe, Lancashire venue.

Catherine shared photos and clips of the hotel’s luxurious interior, posting the name of the venue to her account and begging them to let her stay.

Catherine also shared a photo of their private dining room, which was decorated with bunting and aluminum foil “40” balloons.

As well as the trip to the country house, Catherine also dined with her closest friends, including former Corrie co-star Samia Longchambon.

It was recently reported that Catherine was ‘blindsided’ by online reactions surrounding a fierce row over free cake.

Catherine had hired party planners NVRLND to manage the business, but they caused controversy by asking an independent bakery to make a large birthday cake, a smaller birthday cake for Tyldesley’s husband plus 100 cupcakes for free.

The company told Rebecca Severs of Three Little Birds Bakery that payment for the order would be “in the form of promotion,” but she hit back at PR and declined the offer, saying her staff “can’t feed their children with Instagram exposure.”

The party has since been canceled following a furious backlash against Catherine over the request Mirror reports.

A source close to the actress said: ‘Cath was blindsided by Cakegate and found the whole thing very upsetting so she has decided on a quieter celebration.

“She doesn’t blame NVRLND, but the whole situation left a sour taste, so she thought it best to call it quits.”

NVRLND did not tell Ms. Severs whose birthday the request was for, saying only that it was a “well-known celebrity.”

Ms Severs shared her response to PR, who requested the cakes at the height of the cost of living, saying: ‘I am so sorry to hear that your client has fallen on such hard times that he can no longer live. afford to pay small businesses for their products.

“Unfortunately, because my mortgage lender will not accept payment ‘in the form of promotion on their socials’, and my staff cannot feed their children with exposure on Instagram, I will have to decline your very generous offer.”

She received a lot of support from the public online and later joked that her bakery provides “delicious cakes and a generous side of sarcasm when necessary.”

One social media user said: ‘Best comment! Good for sticking to your guns!’

Another said: ‘Good for you!’ while a third wrote: ‘Love it!’

A fourth commented: ‘I’ve gained a new follower here purely because this response is exactly the level of corporate sarcasm I’m aiming for. Fantastic response.’
