Train surfers play dice with death on the back of the carriage at Melbourne station
Shocking footage has captured the moment two hooded train surfers hitched a ride at the end of a carriage and came within inches of being electrocuted.
The pair were spotted at the end of a train departing from a Melbourne metro station.
A stunned commuter standing on the platform filmed the terrifying stunt as the train pulled away with one of the teenagers waving at the camera.
The pair are seen in the footage standing dangerously close to power lines above the carriage, with the lines carrying 1,500 volts of electricity.
Operator Metro Trains labeled the stunt as ‘stupidity of the highest order’.

“Melbourne’s rail network is not a playground, and those who treat it as one only risk serious injury or death,” a Mertro spokesperson told Nine News.
‘Train surfing and couple riding is stupidity of the highest order – and no stunt, thrill or social media post is worth a life.’
‘In addition to the obvious risk to life, these incidents could stop train services on their tracks and cause significant and unnecessary disruption to passengers.’
Train surfing can result in fines of more than $400 in Victoria.
The police are investigating the incident.
NSW authorities launched a crackdown on the potentially deadly act of clinging to the outside of speeding trains earlier this year after a 13 per cent spike in the ‘extremely dangerous and stupid’ crime.
Eleven people have died entering Sydney’s rail corridors in the past five years.
The cheeky couple even waved at the camera as the train left an underground station in Melbourne
