Warped Lucy Letby ‘fans’ write to killer nurse as she rots in jail: Supporters on twisted Facebook group dedicated to baby murderer boast of sending her letters and ‘waiting for her to reply’

Warped Lucy Letby ‘fans’ brag about sending letters to the killer nurse as she rots in prison.

Letby was given a life sentence after being found guilty of murdering seven babies and attempting to murder six more at the Countess of Chester Hospital in Cheshire between June 2015 and June 2016.

She injected them with air, gave them too much milk and attacked them with a horrific series of attacks.

Members of a twisted public Facebook group dedicated to Letby have revealed that they have already sent letters to the baby killer, while others have spoken of their desire to do the same.

A female member of the ‘Nurse Lucy Letby Group’ said: ‘I have sent my letter to Lucy.’

In another post she claimed to have contacted HMP Low Newton, County Durham, where Letby is being held, for help on the best way to reach her.

The woman’s post attracted a lot of attention, with some hoping for the same and bragging about “waiting for her response.”

Another woman, claiming to be a former NHS nurse, wrote: ‘Let us know if she responds. I’m thinking about taking up writing too.’

A third wrote: ‘I will follow your lead! Another said: ‘I hope you get a reply xx’.

The Facebook group contains several controversial theories about Letby, including the claim that she is innocent. However, other members of the group condemned writing to the killer.

One wrote: ‘Are you really like that? Why would you send a letter to someone who murdered seven babies?’ Another woman wrote: ‘Take the time to write a letter to a child serial killer… that’s him.’

And a third said: ‘Did any of you write to Wayne Cozens, Rose West and Delroy Grant while you were at it?’

Letby, who is originally from Hereford, is appealing her convictions and is expected to begin her bid to clear her name at a court hearing later this month. Members of the Facebook group posted: ‘How long will it take before a decision is made on whether Letby can appeal?’

Others wrote: ‘I believe the trial of Lucy Letby was biased and shocking. She’s innocent.’

Letby was given a life sentence (when she was arrested) after being found guilty of murdering seven babies and attempting to murder six more at the Countess of Chester Hospital in Cheshire between June 2015 and June 2016.

Letby denied all the crimes she was accused of and refused to attend her sentencing at Manchester Crown Court.

One father, whose baby Letby tried to kill, told the Mail: ‘I am disgusted and angry that Letby is appealing.’

‘As if we haven’t been through enough already. We are trying to rebuild our lives and this is a joke of a system. I don’t understand what grounds she can appeal; there were no mitigating circumstances in the trial.”

Letby’s filing comes after a scientist launched a fundraising campaign claiming the case against her was based on “unreliable expert advice” and “poor knowledge” of science.

California-based Sarrita Adams, who describes herself as a scientific advisor to early-stage biotech companies, leads a group called Science on Trial.

The group, whose posts appear on the page where Letby ‘fans’ discuss sending her mail, claims her conviction is ‘arguably the greatest miscarriage of justice Britain has ever witnessed’.

She was acquitted of two counts of attempted murder.

Others have condemned Letby's

Others have condemned Letby’s “fans” for sending her letters asking, “Why would anyone want to write a baby serial killer?”

However, the jury could not reach a verdict on six attempted murders of five children.

Cheshire Police have confirmed they are reviewing the care of 4,000 children – every baby admitted to the unit and those at Liverpool Women’s Hospital, where Letby interned, during the footprint of her career, which began in September 2012.

As police continue to investigate Letby, a mother has revealed the nurse took a ‘sickening’ photo of her baby daughter while the feeding tube was loose.

The child later collapsed shortly after the neonatal nurse finished her shift and had to be transferred to the intensive care unit.

She was subsequently diagnosed with cerebral palsy, a condition caused by brain damage, and her mother now fears her daughter was harmed by the serial killer.

The woman, who asked not to be identified, told the Mirror she wants police to investigate and take legal action against the Countess of Chester Hospital.

Earlier this week, Dr Dewi Evans, the prosecution’s key expert at the trial, told the Mail he had reviewed the baby notes from June 2014 and believed three more children may have been killed and 15 others harmed by Letby.

He said he believed she had disconnected breathing tubes from babies before her “modus operandi” changed to injecting air in June 2015.

Letby’s 10-month trial at Manchester Crown Court heard how she had a morbid fascination with her victims and tracked down their families on Facebook.

Sentencing her last month, Mr James Goss Letby said: ‘There was a deep malice, bordering on sadism, in your actions. You have shown no remorse.”

When Letby was sentenced, she became only the fourth woman to be given a life sentence in Britain, joining serial killer Rose West, the late Moors killer and ‘Peterbourgho ditch killer’ Joanna Dennehy.

Ian Carson, of the Prison Officers Association, said The mirror: ‘There are no restrictions on sending letters to someone in prison. These kinds of things happen all the time.”
