Tom Brady’s recent investment in the WNBA likely won’t be his last venture into women’s sports, the NFL’s first female coach says.

Dr. Jen Welter, who broke the league’s glass ceiling when she was hired as an intern with Bruce Arians’ Arizona Cardinals in 2015, believes Brady won’t stop his involvement in one of his most recent investments.

Earlier this year, Brady invested in a small stake in the reigning WNBA champions: the Las Vegas Aces.

Welter says the future Hall-of-Fame quarterback is off to a good start and could reap the rewards in the years to come.

“I think Tom Brady is doing a very good job, primarily by expanding his presence in the sport by making very smart investments. Really smart people know that the ROI (Return on Investment) for women will be a lot higher in the long term,” says Welter. PEOPLE.

‘One of the things people don’t realize is that if you start at the top, you have to stay at the top. In men’s sports, the (Washington) Commanders sold for, what, $6 billion? Everything you do isn’t worth billions, you’re not even in the club.’

Welter says Brady’s investment in the Aces is not only industry-leading among ex-athletes, but ahead of the curve.

“We are only now beginning to see the progress and upside potential of women’s sports,” she says.

Welter also cited Brady’s daughter as a reason for him to make this investment, adding: ‘If we could all live in empathy, we would have a much better world. But when you start looking at the world through the lens of someone who means the world to you, everything changes.

“There are few girl dads who don’t look at the world and want the best for their daughters, just as they do for their sons.

“Cheers to Tom Brady. I think the investment is great, and I think he will do more of it.”

Welter is currently a linebackers coach with the Vegas Vipers of the XFL. She is a two-time gold medalist at the Women’s World American Football Championship.
