Punjab govt has provided over 36,000 jobs in past 18 months: CM Mann
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Saturday said his government has given 36,524 appointment letters of government jobs to youth in the last 18 months of their stay in office.
Speaking at a function to hand over letters of appointment to 427 recruits in power, education, forestry and other departments, Mann said this is a rare achievement as none of the previous governments achieved this milestone in such a short period of has completed her term of office.
He said that the state government has given appointment letters to 7,660 youths in the state in the last 25 days.
A foolproof mechanism has been put in place for the entire recruitment process, due to which not a single appointment out of these 36,524 has been challenged in court so far, an official statement quoting Mann said.
These youth have been given government jobs entirely on the basis of merit, he asserted, adding that the sole aim is to ensure that the youth of Punjab become active partners in the social and economic growth of the state.
By providing these jobs in the first 18 months of its tenure, the state government has set a record of providing government services to 2,000 youths per month, he said.
The Chief Minister urged the newly recruited youths to serve people with missionary zeal as they have now become an integral part of the government.
Just as airport runways ensure smooth take-off of planes, the state government is similarly helping youth realize their dreams, he said.
Every effort is made to give wings to the ideas of the youth and no stone is left unturned, said Mann.
He criticized the previous governments, saying that during the previous terms, these runways were only used by wealthy people to raise their own families.
Now these runways have been opened by his government for the youth of ordinary families, he added.
During the previous regimes, people were afraid of success because the former rulers pressured them to invest their share in ventures, he claimed.
These leaders plundered the masses, especially the successful industrialists, Mann claimed.
