Olympia Valance has called for better sex education in schools, including discussing the fertility struggle.
The Neighbors star, who is on an IVF journey after miscarrying twins earlier this year, told Adelaide now this weekend that teenage girls need more information about their biological clock.
“It feels like that scene in Mean Girls where the sex ed teacher says, ‘If you have sex, you get pregnant and you die,’” the 30-year-old said.
“Well, that’s how it was at my school. And then you are 28, 29 and 30 and it is not easy to get pregnant.’
Valance added that she doesn’t regret sharing her miscarriage story with the public.

“I think what I do is important, necessary and necessary,” she said.
“Miscarriages are happening all the time and we should be talking to people for support because it is very difficult.”
In July, the actress revealed she had miscarried twins as she continues to struggle with her fertility.
In a heartbreaking Instagram video, the star revealed she and her new husband, AFL star Thomas Bellchambers, are desperate to have a child.

“Thomas and I miscarried twins in the middle of Covid, which as you can imagine was excruciatingly painful,” she said in the clip.
‘We haven’t been able to get pregnant since then. That would be two years of really trying,” the actress continued.
‘For any woman or couple trying to conceive, there is no worse pain than looking down on that negative pregnancy test every month. Your heart breaks in two.’
Olympia said she was reluctant to “go down the IVF path” because she “never handled hormones well.”
“Adding more hormones to my raging cycle is scaring me to death,” she admitted, but said she didn’t visit a fertility specialist.

“I want babies and I will do anything to have them,” Olympia concluded.
Olympia and footballer Thomas, 33, married in June last year.
The stars walked down the aisle in a picturesque ceremony attended by 250 family and friends in Daylesford, Victoria.
The couple later enjoyed their honeymoon in Greece, where they were joined by sister Holly Candy.
Olympia, who shot to fame when she joined Neighbors as Paige Smith in 2014, and Tom got engaged in October 2021.
The pair started dating in June 2019 after meeting him on ultra-exclusive celebrity dating app Raya.
