Sofia Vergara looks happier than ever in Beverly Hills… after the first teaser for her drug lord series Griselda wins raves

Sofia Vergara looked happier than ever as she arrived at a Beverly Hills parking lot on Thursday afternoon.

The 51-year-old actress smiled from ear to ear as she cut a casual figure.

The Modern Family star, who recently left the set of America’s Got Talent after a Howie Mandel joke, tucked a light gray t-shirt into skin-tight light blue jeans that were rolled up at the bottom.

Vergara also wore a pair of jet black high-heeled shoes that contrasted perfectly with the light shade of her pants. The Primetime Emmy Award-nominated artist was given a chic handbag and sunglasses.

The appearance comes on the same day the actress wowed fans in the first teaser for her drug lord series Griselda, in which she plays the title character.

The show is from the makers of the hit series Narcos.

Vergara — who is divorcing Joe Manganiello — was nearly unrecognizable in the first teaser trailer for Netflix’s upcoming limited series Griselda, which was released Thursday.

While playing Colombian drug cartel leader Griselda Blanco, known as the Cocaine Godmother, the actress was completely transformed into a Colombian businesswoman, including sporting cuts on her face.

In the first 36-second teaser, the Modern Family alum can be seen pulling up in a car as a group of men quietly stare and wait for her arrival.

“You’ve been thinking about me a lot, haven’t you?” Vergara begins. ‘I heard you liked my product. Together we can make a lot of money.’

After images of pans transporting illegal substances, a man snorting cocaine and bags of cash, you hear someone ask: “Who’s in charge?”

Vergara appears with a stern expression on her face as she stares directly into the camera while ominous music plays in the background.

According to Netflix, the bilingual crime series is inspired by the life of the smart and ambitious Blanco, who they describe as a “devoted mother” who “created one of the most profitable cartels in history.”

The synopsis also noted that “Blanco’s deadly mix of unsuspected cruelty and charm helped her skillfully navigate between business and family.”

The rest of the star-studded cast includes Alberto Guerra as Dario, Vanessa Ferlito as Isabel, Alberto Ammann as Alberto Bravo and Christian Tappan as Arturo.

Griselda, coming to Netflix in January 2024, comes from the creators and executive producers of Narcos and Narcos: Mexico.

This is Vergara’s first scripted live-action project since announcing her divorce from Joe Manganiello in July 2023 after seven years of marriage.

In 2022, the mother of one revealed it took two hours in the makeup chair to transform into her character.

Blanco is considered one of the most profitable cartels in history.

The career criminal, who stood just five feet tall, was involved in pickpocketing and prostitution from a young age, but it wasn’t long before her crimes began to escalate.

After being introduced to the cocaine industry by her second husband, whom she later murdered, Griselda built a thriving drug empire, earning more than $80 million every month.

She embraced her criminal persona – her nicknames were The Black Widow, The Godmother of Cocaine and The Boss – and was not afraid to flaunt her ill-gotten gains.

But things began to fall apart after her incarceration as authorities tried to bring charges against the devoted mother for more than 200 murders.

Griselda spent ten years behind bars before being sent back to Colombia, where she was shot dead at the age of 69 as she stepped out of a butcher’s shop.

She remains among the most notorious drug lords in history and was a central figure in documentaries such as Cocaine Cowboys (2006) and Cocaine Cowboys 2: Hustlin’ with the Godmother (2008) – as well as in the film The Cocaine Godmother (2017) with starring Catherine Zeta-Jones.
