UEFA is being urged to act as Russian company Gazprom prepares to return to Champions League action for the first time since the invasion of Ukraine.

European football’s governing body has been called on to take further action as Russian oil company Gazprom is set to return to the spotlight.

Following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Gazprom was excluded from being an official sponsor of UEFA’s award-winning Champions League competition, with Russian clubs also banned from competing.

The two organizations had been partners for a decade, but after a year away from football fans’ screens, the Gazprom name and logo are set to return.
