Dutch royal fans rejoice as Crown Princesses Amalia and Alexia wave from the palace balcony and join their parents, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima, on the occasion of Budget Day

The Dutch royal family turned up the glamor on Tuesday for one of the most ceremonial celebrations in the Netherlands.

Today is Prinsjesdag, the opening day of the Dutch parliament, which takes place every year on the third Tuesday in September. The members of the royal family enter the balcony of Noordeinde Palace to wave to the crowd below.

The royal family, including King Willem-Alexander, Queen Maxima and their daughters, Crown Princess Alexia, 18, and Crown Princess Amalia, 19 – who is heir to the throne – certainly donned their finest clothes for the occasion.

While mother-of-three Queen Máxima, 52, opted for a peach trouser suit and a regal-looking brown floral coat, her daughters went for bold colours, with Amalia wearing a royal blue dress, suede heels and sapphire earrings. with her blonde hair neatly wrapped in an updo.

Meanwhile, her younger brother, Alexia, also opted for a charged color; she wore a stylish ankle-length cerise dress, her brunette locks tousled and pinned to the left side.

It is believed that the King and Queen’s youngest daughter, Crown Princess Ariane, is studying at the Italian school she attends, UWC Adriatic.

The royal teen accessorized with maroon leather clutches and matching gloves.

The royal family attended the celebration of Budget Day 2023 at Royal Palace Noordeinde before driving to the Nieuwe Kerk where King Willem-Alexander delivered the speech from the throne to the members of the Senate and House of Representatives.

The king looked impeccably groomed and wore a black jacket with tails for the government speech and a light gray vest.

He completed the outfit with gray trousers with subtle stripes and a white and gray striped tie.

After arriving at the Royal Theater, a suited and booted Willem-Alexander solemnly delivered the speech by Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, while his wife looked on.

In the Dutch equivalent of the state opening of parliament, Prinsjesdag, the monarch details the government’s program for the next financial year, as well as the budget allocations.

The ceremony is traditionally serious, with all eyes focused on King Willem-Alexander as he delivered the speech from the throne to the members of the Senate and House of Representatives.

Although there were some protesters in the crowd, the mood was largely jubilant

Typically, the couple is joined at the event by other members of the royal family, and this year was no different with the presence of King Willem-Alexander’s younger brother, Prince Constatijn, and his wife Princess Laurentien – who welcomed their niece Princess Alexia guided.

The royal, who recently celebrated her 18th birthday, is the second child of Queen Maxima and King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands.

Her eldest sister Catharina-Amalia is the heir, but that doesn’t stop the Dutch royal family from making sure Amalia gets her time in the spotlight.

The royal family recently had its first solo engagement when they christened the Vox Alexia, a ship from Dutch manufacturer Van Oord, in Rotterdam.

Rather than shying away from the spotlight, the princess looked poised and professional during the solo event.

After the baptism, Alexia gave a tour of the ship, had a chat with the crew and spoke to members of the Young Van Oord Association.

Alexia recently graduated from UWC Atlantic College in South Wales in May this year, with her parents traveling to the prestigious school to celebrate.

The school is often referred to as ‘Hippie Hogwarts’ due to its progressive approach to education and picturesque castle setting.
