Former Inter Milan star Samir Handanovic has criticized the behavior of Man United star Andre Onana after the goalkeeper signed for the Italian giants in 2022.
Onana spent a year at Inter Milan before joining Man United for €47 million this summer.
The Cameroon international had spent the first eight Serie A matches on the bench before eventually replacing veteran goalkeeper Handanovic as Inter’s first-choice shot-stopper.
Handanovic, who has now announced his retirement, explains Gazetta Dello Sport that he was not impressed by Onana’s behavior when the goalkeeper was left out of the team.
“When I said I was leaving, Onana thanked me,” Handanovic said.

‘I liked those words, but not his behavior in the first two months at Inter, when he didn’t play because (Simone) Inzaghi confirmed me as the starting goalkeeper.
“Then he told the truth, and it must be said that I was always consistent with him and also helped him.”
Onana has come under fire from Jamie Carragher for his behavior during a pre-season match for Man United.
Carragher claims Onana deliberately tried to endear herself to Red Devils supporters by shouting ‘outrageous’ at Harry Maguire during United’s 3-2 defeat to Borussia Dortmund in July.
The former Liverpool defender claimed Onana’s criticism was ‘exaggerated’ and only added to the criticism leveled at Maguire.
“I know very well that Onana is demonstrative at all his clubs, and I like him to communicate,” Carragher tweeted.
‘But to continue like this in a pre-season match, when you’ve been at the club for two minutes, against the club captain, was way over the top.
‘Any player worth his salt (Keane, Vidic, Rio, Stam… and me!) would have told him where to go and get back into his goal.

Maguire is under intense scrutiny due to his performances for both club and country
‘I thought he tried way too hard to show the fans what he stood for. The point was that Maguire was so broken that he didn’t say anything back. While he was fully entitled to do so.’
Maguire was stripped of the Man United captaincy over the summer, with manager Erik ten Hag instead handing the armband to Portuguese midfielder Bruno Fernandes.
The defender has been thrust further into the spotlight after scoring an own goal in England’s midweek win over Scotland, as opposition supporters cheered him on in derision.
Maguire’s mother then hit out at critics in an emotional post on social media.
