Meghan joined her husband Prince Harry on his 39th birthday, marked by a stadium full of fans singing a German version of Happy Birthday at the Invictus Games in Dusseldorf, ahead of the volleyball final medal ceremony that left Meghan Markle teary-eyed.
The packed stadium first broadcast a rendition of ‘Happy Birthday’ in English after a commentator told the crowd it was Harry’s 39th, before singing the German version of the song with the words ‘Zum Geburtstag veld Glück’.
The Duke of Sussex appeared surprised as he waved awkwardly as the crowd erupted into song and Meghan clapped along. He was then asked to stand up and walk to the front row, where he fist bumped Invictus Games mascot Teddy.
As the English version of Happy Birthday came to an end, the commentator said to the royal family: ‘Prince Harry, hold on, we’re here in Germany. There is also a German version!’ before the audience began a German rendition of the song.

The birthday celebrations took place after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex received a rock star welcome as they took their seats in the Center Court stands to watch the sitting volleyball final between Poland and Colombia.
The pair both enjoyed a celebratory pint at the Duke’s 39th birthday, with Meghan – in her third outfit of the day – seen taking a few sneaky sips of Harry’s pint as he chatted to Veterans Minister Johnny Mercer.
Meghan was later seen wiping tears from both eyes at a medal ceremony after congratulating athletes from the victorious Polish volleyball team, following a tense match that had Prince Harry jumping out of his seat in excitement as the final points were scored.
