Ryan Phillippe heads into the weekend by celebrating another milestone in his sobriety journey.
The 49-year-old actor – who was spotted buying Powerball tickets for the $1 billion jackpot in July – shared a selfie on Instagram and revealed that this is the longest he has been sober since he was a teenager.
The I Know What You Did Last Summer star wore aviators and a sleeveless white shirt with a Laval bag slung over his shoulder.
He also wore several bracelets with white earbuds with a toothpick in his mouth for the selfie.
“Officially the longest I’ve gone since my teenage years without any form of nicotine or marijuana in my system (among other things…),” Phillippe began.

“I am grateful for the freedom that comes with breaking addictions and substance dependence,” he added.
“Sobriety, clarity and spiritual connection feel really good,” he concluded, along with a prayer hands emoji.
He also shared the photo on his Instagram Story and joked about his only two remaining “addictions.”
“My only remaining addictions are toothpicks and self-improvement,” the actor joked in his Story post.
While it’s unclear exactly when Phillippe got sober, he opened up about battling addiction and depression in a September 2017 issue. Women’s health.
“I think people are afraid of being stigmatized or treated in a generic way, which is sometimes the response to someone saying, ‘I’m struggling with depression,'” he said.
“But actually depression can manifest itself in a thousand different ways depending on who it is,” he added.
The actor admitted: “I don’t think there’s any reason not to talk about it. We can help each other cope and provide tools that we learn along the way.’

He added: “I talk to myself a lot. I’m constantly talking things over in my head. I went on a trip to Thailand and had such a great experience.”
“Since then I’ve read a lot of Eastern philosophy about giving up some of the superficial things we’re attached to, and I’m trying to do that,” he said.
“I also have problems with patience and depression, and I think about how to concentrate and make myself stable and be kinder and better. Meditation and exercise work for me,” he admitted.
Phillippe will next be seen in theaters on November 30 in the upcoming film Miranda’s Victim starring Abigail Breslin, Mireille Enos and Donald Sutherland.
