San Diego Padres third-base coach Matt Williams and his wife, former news anchor Erika Monroe, are splitting.
Monroe filed for divorce after twenty years of marriage, citing “irreconcilable differences,” according to TMZ.
Williams, who was married twice before, married Monroe in 2003 and the two share a daughter.
In a 2014 interview with the Washington Post, Monroe spoke about their early romance after they crossed paths at an event.
“Matt was persistent,” said Monroe, who said she didn’t want to date an athlete.

‘And we finally went on a date after a few months. Then it was over. It just took me to get to that table.”
In his baseball days, Williams was a five-time All-Star and won four Gold Glove awards and four Silver Slugger awards.
He finished the lockout-shortened 1994 season as the NL home run leader and was on track to challenge for the then-record for home runs in a season of 61, held by Roger Maris and broken years later by Mark McGwire.
From 1987 to 2003, Williams played for the San Francisco Giants, the Cleveland Indians and the Arizona Diamondbacks.
With the latter, Williams won the 2001 World Series in seven games against the New York Yankees.
After retiring, Williams briefly coached in small roles with the Diamondbacks before becoming manager of the Washington Nationals for the 2014 and 2015 seasons. In 2014, he was named NL Manager of the Year.
He was fired after his final season when the team failed to make the postseason after entering 2015 as World Series favorites.
Since his firing, Williams has been the third base coach for the Oakland Athletics and the San Diego Padres.
