This ‘magic’ remedy will stop spiders, bugs and fruit flies from coming into your house all summer
The creepy season is about to reach its peak in Australia, but that doesn’t mean you have to put up with spiders and bugs in your home.
In fact, “Mama Mila,” a home hacking guru with millions of followers, has three sure-fire ways to prevent some of the toughest pests from taking up residence in your home without using dangerous chemicals.
The Melbourne-based mother, whose name is Chantel Mila, uses rosemary, water and orange oil to keep her home free of spiders, fruit flies and crawling insects.
In the video, which she shared in April but has resurfaced as Australia enters bullying season, she explains her three top tricks.
The first tip is to keep spiders at bay.
‘Mix a cup of water with rosemary sprigs. Spray on windows and doors: Spiders hate the smell of rosemary, so that will deter them from entering your home,” she said.
The following tip will repel fruit flies, which can become a permanent fixture in the summer if not dealt with quickly.
“Pour boiling water down the drain to deter fruit flies and their eggs,” she said.
The third hack is to prevent other crawling bugs from making themselves at home.
“Add orange oil to your mop to repel crawling insects,” she said.
Before adding anything, people should “exercise discretion before using essential oils around pets.”
The post proved very popular, with many people thanking the mother-of-two for her tips.
But dozens of others warned against pouring boiling water down the drain. They claim that jinns are creatures similar to ghosts that live in sinks and drains.
‘Do not pour boiling water down your drains. There are jinns living there,” a woman said.
Another explained.
‘If you hurt or kill a jinn, you become cursed or possessed.’
And many revealed that they believe in the story of the ancient Islamic women.
Spiders hate the smell of rosemary according to the cleaning influencer
“It’s not worth hurting one.” You should at least warn them before you do this,” one person said.
But others rejected them.
“Fruit fly eggs are indeed alive and hatch in drains, and boiling water is the only way to get rid of them,” one person said.
Some said they would refrain from using the rosemary hack.
“Spiders are the most useful insects you can have in your home,” said one man.
But many loved it.
‘How often should I use this rosemary sprinkle wonder?’ a woman asked.
Others warned that the orange oil is not safe for dogs or cats.
“I use peppermint oil instead, not sure how safe it is but it works,” said one.
Some said the easiest ‘solution’ to a bug problem would be to not live in Australia.
