Earlier today it was revealed that a man was arrested on suspicion of possessing a dangerously out-of-control dog after an 11-year-old girl was mauled by an American XL Bully.

West Midlands Police said they had arrested a 60-year-old man following the incident last weekend, which also left two men injured.

The American XL Bully and Staffordshire bull terrier cross puppy escaped from its collar in Bordesley Green in Birmingham on Saturday afternoon, devastating Ana Paun, 11, as she walked home after buying sweets with her sister.

Police said two men who tried to lure the dog away from Ana were also attacked and injured as the horrors unfolded along a busy street and petrol station forecourt.

There was also another incident today involving two American Bully XL dogs breaking into a garden and brutally beating a cat to death.

The two beasts were caught on Ring doorbell footage in the middle of the night as they burst into the front garden of a house in Hounslow, West London.

The animals started chasing one cat, which managed to dart into a bush and escape. But a second cat wasn’t so lucky as it was pinned to the ground by the snarling dogs, who tore into the screaming feline and killed it.

The attack was the latest in a series of incidents in the London suburb that have terrified the community – and comes amid mounting pressure to ban the ‘deadly’ XL Bully breed in Britain.
