New York Jets fans have been quick to blame YouTube boxer Jake Paul for Aaron Rodgers’ season-ending injury after the quarterback was diagnosed with a torn Achilles tendon.
Rodgers, a four-time league MVP who was traded to New York from the Green Bay Packers in April, suffered the long-term injury just minutes into his highly anticipated Jets debut against the Buffalo Bills on the Week 1 edition of Monday Night Football .
The Jets ultimately won the game in overtime, but Rodgers was on the field for just four seconds after landing awkwardly on his left ankle following a tackle by Bills defensive end Leonard Floyd.
The 39-year-old was unable to get back on his feet without help from the medical team and was seen limping as he left the field. It has now been confirmed that he will not play again this season.
Now, pre-game footage shows Paul sharing a greeting with the quarterback and fans are absolutely convinced the influencer doomed Rodgers in their exchange.

“I saw Aaron Rodgers dabbing Jake Paul during warm-ups and I knew something was going to go wrong,” one fan wrote to X.
Another fan said, “Jake Paul touched Aaron Rodgers and now Aaron Rodgers is out for the season. If that doesn’t clearly say Jake Paul is POISION, I don’t know what does.”
One fan even went so far as to say, “All I saw was Jake Paul, co-founder of Betr, looking suspiciously at Rodgers’ Achilles as he walked away.”
“All I’m saying is Aaron Rodgers was totally fine until he touched Jake Paul,” another tweeted.
While speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Jets head coach Robert Saleh not only emphasized the fact that Zach Wilson would be the starting QB, but also sternly stated, “I don’t know why people are trying to put an obituary under our name. ‘
Several fans pointed to the greeting between the two stars as a prelude to the injury
Wilson had been the Jets starter in recent years but was demoted to a backup after a terrible season that led to NY trading for Rodgers in the NFL’s story of the summer.
The plan for the 2021 No. 2 overall pick was to learn from Rodgers this season, but that plan quickly disappeared when a sack of Bills DE Leonard Floyd quickly changed the course of Jets history.
However, there is a chance Wilson could return to his mentee role next season as Rodgers recently took to Instagram and promised to ‘rise again’.
Rodger’s words seemingly implied that he plans to return next season once his Achilles tendon has healed, rather than retire due to the injury.
