I’m furious at my ex and his new girlfriend for the ‘creepy’ and ‘weird’ name they gave their baby – and everyone agrees with me

A mother was shocked to find out her ex-partner and his new girlfriend were planning to ‘steal’ her daughter’s name and use it for their new baby.

Lana*, 35, is a single mother who became pregnant after a ‘drunk tryst’ with one of her friends, Harry*.

The duo decided to keep the baby and co-parent while remaining friends, but everything changed when Harry met his long-term girlfriend and they decided to start a family.

Lana was happy for the couple and tried to help as often as possible by being flexible about her 10-year-old and offering to babysit in the future if the new parents needed an evening to themselves.

“I made it clear that I wanted the children to be close despite having different mothers, and I was excited for my daughter to have a brother or sister,” Lana said, but visiting the new baby in the hospital brought about a wave of confusion. , pain and anger.

‘When they introduced us to the baby, I was shocked. They had used my daughter’s name. She didn’t seem to have any problem with this as she boldly introduced the baby to us.

‘Harry seemed uncomfortable and didn’t look at me. I asked them what they were doing, but Harry told me to calm down and not overreact, while his girlfriend told me she didn’t see the problem.’

At first, Lana thought they were trying to honor her daughter.

“But no, they just liked the name and liked it. I asked if they planned to use a nickname or middle name when addressing her on a daily basis, and Harry’s girlfriend replied that she didn’t see the need to do so.’

Lana became extremely upset and told the new parents that they were being “ridiculous” and “creepy.”

‘I told Harry he had no backbone if he wanted to go along with this. He tried to claim that our daughter could use a nickname, but I immediately shut that down.

“Why is it more reasonable for a girl who has been using that name for ten years to change her name, compared to a baby who has no idea what a name is yet?”

Lana revealed that Harry’s girlfriend called her a ‘b*tch’ for stressing her out after giving birth, and had her removed from hospital for being ‘disruptive’.

‘I know it’s their choice what they want to name their child, they could have named her Dinosaur for all I care, but this is a name that should be off limits or modified.

“They even have the same last name if they have the same father… something about it just felt malicious and intentional, like she was trying to replace my daughter and it was very strange that it happened to both of us that way on the first meeting.”

Thousands were equally shocked by Harry’s ‘incredible’ behaviour.

“From the outside, it seems like she wants to replace her partner’s affection for his first daughter with his new baby. Of course it’s creepy,” one person said.

‘What a cruel, spineless father. I feel so sad for the eldest daughter,” wrote a second.

Many also pointed out the legal problems that would arise from this issue.

‘I’m so confused: who wants two children with the same name? Things will be confusing and difficult until they are out of your house and uninsured, if that ever happens,” one man wrote.
