PICTURED: Baby-faced ‘racist,’ John Sheeran, 14, charged with attempted murder ‘after he tried to drown black teen in pond while calling victim George Floyd, before punching Asian child’

A baby-faced 14-year-old boy has appeared in court over claims he tried to kill a black teenager while drowning him.

John Sheeran appeared in a court outside Boston on Monday over the July incident in which he allegedly hurled racial slurs at his unnamed victim — even calling the teen “George Floyd” during the drowning attempts.

He was wearing a navy blue suit, shirt and tie with the collar not tucked in properly. Despite calls from prosecutors to keep Sheeran in custody, a judge released him with a tag and ordered him to remain at his father’s home.

The victim told police that Sheeran began throwing rocks at him and calling him racial slurs after he showed up at Goose Pond on Cape Cod. Sheeran then threatened to beat up the victim, it is claimed.

The victim could not swim and therefore wore a life jacket in the water. Despite the vest, Sheeran tried to pull him underwater several times, to the point where the victim could no longer breathe, it is claimed.

The victim told police that the suspect “held onto my life jacket and pulled me under and back up about four to five times… as I did that, water came into my mouth and nose and I couldn’t breathe.”

Afterwards, the victim said Sheeran started calling him “George Floyd” as he kicked him and pulled him underwater.

The victim said he screamed that he couldn’t breathe, and that’s when the suspect and another teen at the scene “started laughing and calling me George Floyd.

He continued to scream for help as the two teens continued to pull him underwater. Eventually, bystanders came to help and the victim was saved. The other alleged attacker has not been identified – and it is unclear whether Sheeran knew his alleged victim before the attack.

Prosecutors allege that just hours later, Sheeran punched an Asian child in the face. That child has not been identified.

Sheeran was charged with attempted murder and civil rights violations in connection with the case.

In court on Monday, a baby-faced Sheeran was led into the room with his hands cuffed in front of him.

His brown hair was twisted down as he sat down before the judge. He wore a blue suit and a striped tie.

Despite objections from prosecutors, Sheeran was released and placed under house arrest in Chatham. His release includes wearing a GPS monitoring device that will confine him to his father’s home. He must also continue to report to the youth probation service.

Prosecutors argued that Sheeran should remain in prison and called him a danger to the community.

‘Mr. Sheeran can’t be in the community because whether it’s three in the afternoon at a pond with his friends where he should be able to behave, or a quarter to eight at night when he meets another child, he hits that child ,” Assistant District Attorney Eileen Moriarty said in court.

‘He is a violent child, we have heard no extenuating circumstances.

This violence is unfortunately directed at children of other races, children who do not look like him,” she added.

At the time of the incident, Sheeran had just moved to Florida with his mother because his parents had divorced, prosecutors said.

The teenager will now have to stay with his father in Chatham while the court case continues.

His parents are divorcing and Sheeran’s mother lives in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
