AFL: Radio star Jase Hawkins launches extraordinary spray against Eddie McGuire

Radio star Jason ‘Jase’ Hawkins launched an extraordinary spray at Magpies tragic Eddie McGuire on Wednesday, calling the TV presenter a ‘w**nker’.

Hawkins pulled no punches when discussing 58-year-old McGuire, who celebrated a controversial AFL ruling in which Collingwood star Brayden Maynard avoided being banned for his hit on Angus Brayshaw.

“Every time I ask a Pies supporter why the club has such a bad name, Eddie McGuire’s name comes up,” he told his co-host Lauren Phillips, 36.

Hawkins said McGuire interrupting dinners at a posh Melbourne restaurant to tell them “justice has been done” was a “w**nker move”.

“Sit down, k**b. There’s a player who has to sit out a week with a concussion and his family is furious because he may never play again.

“And you’ve got some asshole sitting up in restaurants yelling stuff like that. That’s not the image the club wants,” an angry Hawkins added.

Lauren tried to reason with Jase, saying Eddie was just excited that Collingwood had Maynard back for the finals, but Hawkins said that didn’t excuse McGuire’s behavior.

The former Pies club president was at the swanky Choi’s Chinese eatery in Melbourne’s posh suburb of Hawthorn when news broke that the defender had been acquitted in a decision that has divided the football world.

McGuire stood up, clinked his wine glass to get the audience’s attention, and shouted, “Ladies and gentlemen, justice has been done!” Maynard is free to play for the Pies!’

His announcement was greeted with laughter and cheers as he returned to his meal, with an unidentified member of his party joking, “Sit down, Dad,” as he took his seat.

The footage was posted to Instagram on Tuesday evening by Collingwood chief executive Dale Thomas, who added the hashtags #democracymanifest and #succulentchinesemeal, referring to the viral video of Jack Karlson being arrested outside a restaurant in 1991.

‘Daisy’ – who played in the Magpies’ 2010 AFL premiership victory – captioned the clip: “A monumental time in football history and the boys of 2010 plus the good people at the pick were treated to an exclusivity.”

Maynard knocked out Brayshaw when he collided with him after he leapt into the air to smother the Demons star’s kick in the final win over Collingwood last Thursday night – and the incident has divided the football world.

The Pies defender was given the green light to play in the preliminary final on Tuesday evening after a four-hour hearing, but the debate still rages on, with many fans and pundits saying he should have been swept away.

Collingwood posted the following statement on their official Twitter account: ‘Our thoughts remain with Angus Brayshaw and his family – we wish him a speedy and full recovery.’
