Disgusting moment DoorDash driver spits on customer’s food after getting $3 tip for driving half a mile

  • A DoorDasher was caught on video spitting on their customer’s food
  • The delivery person was disappointed by their tip, which a Miami teenager was “good” for the half-mile delivery route

A DoorDash customer got saliva in his takeout meal after the delivery person was caught spitting on the food as disgusting revenge for a “small tip.”

Elias Crisanto, 13, ordered food for himself and his mother to be delivered to their Miami apartment. The teen left his DoorDash delivery person a $3 tip, which he said was “good” for the driver’s half-mile trip.

Crisanto saw the delivery happen in real time through the Ring doorbell camera, and it seems normal at first.

The delivery person, a man wearing a casual outfit of flip-flops and shorts, approached the door and placed the food down before taking a photo to prove the food had been delivered.

But in one disgusting moment, captured on Ring camera footage, you see the DoorDasher crouch down to spit on the food, not once or twice but three times.

DoorDash said: 'While we empathize with the frustration of not receiving a tip, this behavior is unacceptable and falls far short of the high-quality experience we aim to provide'

The Spanish-speaking delivery person walked away complaining that he didn’t get a good tip for picking up the food and delivering it half a mile.

Elias said Telemundo 51 he saw the incident happen through the security camera app on his phone.

“If it wasn’t because of the camera, no one knows. I wanted to throw up, because who does that?’ the teen asked.

Tampering with someone’s food is a crime in the state of Florida, according to Florida’s Anti-Tampering Food Act.

If a person is convicted of food tampering, it is considered a second-degree felony, which can result in penalties of up to 15 years in prison or $10,000 in fines.

DoorDash responded to the sickening situation in a statement:

“While we understand the frustration of not being tipped, this behavior is unacceptable and falls far short of the high quality of experience we strive to provide.

“We have removed the Dasher from our platform and have reached out to the customer directly to help make things right.”

According to DoorDash, their “dashers” are paid through a DoorDash base wage that ranges from $2-$10+ per delivery, depending on the estimated duration, distance and desirability of the order.

“Deliveries that are expected to take more time, require dashers to travel a longer distance, and are less popular with dashers will have a higher base wage,” the food delivery company’s website says.

When “dashers” earn just $2 from the company on a delivery, it’s not surprising that they’re angry enough to start spitting about a tip that brought the total effort to $5.

This isn’t the first time a delivery person has been caught spitting food in revenge.

A lazy delivery driver in China was caught red-handed after being told to deliver food to his door. The customer then said spit was dripping into the bag and the bag smelled like saliva.
