MTV VMAs 2023 WORST DRESSED: Nicki Minaj is a bizarre pink bride, Emily Ratajkowski dons dizzying sheer look, and Saweetie is wrapped in a BONE as they lead stars in strange looks
From over-the-top dresses, clashing patterns and X-rated looks, the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards were filled with a slew of fashion fails.
Some of the biggest names in music attended the event, which took place Tuesday at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, but many didn’t make the cut on the fashion front.
Rapper Nicki Minaj, 40, model Emily Ratajkowski, 32, and singer Saweetie, 30, were among those looking strange this evening.
Minaj opted for a bizarre bubblegum pink wedding dress with a bustier bodice and sheer bottoms, as well as a matching lace veil over her face.
Meanwhile, Ratajkowski opted for a beachy-looking halter wrap dress that showed off her toned midriff and had a clashing bottom pattern.
Channeling the classic cartoon The Flintstones, Saweetie wore a shimmering, pastel pink dress with sequins and large white bone embellishments at the neck.
The 2023 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) will be held at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
The show is hosted by rap royalty Nicki and marks her second year in a row in the role. It is the first time that the ceremony takes place on Tuesday.
Broadcast live in more than 150 countries, this global, fan-packed extravaganza honors the best music videos of the past year with unforgettable performances, epic tributes and breathtaking performances from music’s biggest stars.
This year a new award category has been introduced entitled ‘Show of the Summer’, which will be decided entirely by fans.
Latin superstar Shakira will receive the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, while hip-hop icon Diddy will receive the Global Icon Award.
This year, for the first time, the entire list of contenders for Artist of the Year is made up exclusively of female artists, with megastar Taylor Swift leading the way with the most nominations.
Taylor already holds the record for most wins ever with three for Bad Blood (2015), You Need To Calm Down (2019) and All Too Well: The Short Film (2022), so she would extend the record to four.

Additionally, newcomers Metro Boomin and Rema are up for three awards each, while Ayra Starr, GloRilla, Ice Spice, Peso Pluma, Renee Rapp and Yung Miami are all in the running for two awards.
In addition to Kim, established stars Doja Cat, Miley Cyrus, Nicki Minaj, Olivia Rodrigo and Sam Smith are also in the running for five prizes, while BLACKPINK, Shakira and Diddy will have the chance to take home as many as four trophies.
