Campsie shooting: Harrowing photo shows shot man stretched into ambulance

The disturbing moment a seriously injured man was rushed to hospital after being shot in the head and chest during a drive-by shooting has been caught on camera as Sydney’s gang war erupts.

The man was targeted in a car park on Canterbury Road, in Campsie, before three burnt-out cars were discovered in neighboring suburbs in the south-west of the city on Tuesday evening.

Daily Mail Australia understands two people were sitting in a white car in the underground parking garage when occupants of another vehicle peppered it with bullets.

A photo provided to Daily Mail Australia shows the injured 27-year-old man clinging to life as he was carried into an ambulance by paramedics and other responders.

He was rushed to St George Hospital in a serious condition.

Shocked witnesses recall hearing loud bangs in an underground parking garage where the man was shot.

A man who lives in the apartment building said he heard several bangs and felt the building shake.

“I looked out the window and the firefighters, police and a lot of paramedics had arrived,” he told Daily Mail Australia.

“One officer was carrying a box. I think it was blood. The man received a blood transfusion in the parking lot.

“He was in pretty bad shape.”

The man said police appeared to be searching for something when officers sent a drone over the scene.

He said it was quite shocking that such a violent incident happened on his doorstep.

‘Around that time I was about to go to the parking garage to get my bike. You think what could have happened.

“You just don’t expect something like that.”

He added that he later saw the women being led away from the scene to be interviewed by detectives

Another resident said she heard loud bangs coming from her ground-floor apartment, which is right next to the basement.

‘There were loud bangs. “I didn’t think it was gunshots at first,” she said.

‘I looked outside and saw two women in distress. I realized something was going on so I called 000.”

The woman said she had trouble sleeping last night after the horrific attack.

‘It was quite shocking and terrifying.

A crime scene has been set up at the scene of the shooting and in an underground car park on Canterbury Road.

The driver of the car that was shot at probably fled to the parking lot.

Firefighters were called to the scene of three burnt-out cars in the nearby suburbs of Birrong, Berala and Kingsgrove. They extinguished the flames, but the cars were destroyed.

The tactic of setting fire to getaway cars has become a common feature of hitmen in Sydney in recent years.

It is being investigated whether there is a connection between the shooting and the destroyed cars.

There have been at least 25 underworld shootings on the streets of Sydney since mid-2020.

On July 27, a 28-year-old man was shot on Broughton Street in Canterbury at around 2am.

A shocking photo emerged showing shocked schoolchildren confronted with Ferenc Stemler’s bloodied body hours after he was shot dead.

Several primary school-age children were seen walking past the cordoned-off crime scene.

Shortly after the ‘targeted’ shooting, a burnt-out white Holden Commodore was found on Beaconsfield Avenue in nearby Kingsgrove.

That shooting occurred just hours after prominent criminal defense attorney Mahmoud Abbas was gunned down in his driveway in Greenacre.

Mr Abbas was shot in the right leg and stomach before being rushed to his home hospital to undergo emergency surgery. He is now recovering.

That shooting took place on the same street where underworld figure Mahmoud ‘Brownie’ Ahmad was shot dead while visiting an employee in April 2022.

The wave of shootings was the reason for this NSW Police will set up a task force to investigate the outbreak of violence.

Led by the State Crime Command, Taskforce Magnus will investigate links between shootings dating back to when Alen Moradian was shot in a Bondi Junction car park in Sydney’s east on June 27.

“Shootings in public places are reckless – and criminals who carry out such attacks show a blatant disregard for not only their own safety, but that of the community,” said NSW Police Commissioner Karen Webb.

“Taskforce Magnus will provide investigators with a full range of capabilities and an arsenal of resources to not only find those responsible, but also to put an end to this shameless violence on our streets.”

“Organized criminals have proven time and time again that they operate within a cone of silence and are unwilling to assist police for fear of retaliation or misguided loyalty.

THE MONTH OF SHOOTINGS IN SYDNEY THAT LED TO A NEW TASK FORCE

Three young people traveling in two separate cars were shot in a gangland shooting in Greenacre on July 22.

Ahmad Al-Azzam, 25, was shot several times, including in the head, as he sat in his silver Toyota on Mayvic Street at 2.15am and later died from his injuries.

Kaashif Richards, 22, and Achiraya Jantharat, 19, who were in a separate car 50 meters away, were also shot and rushed to hospital.

Due to the large number of bullets aimed at Mr. Al-Azzam’s car, investigators suspect that Mr. Al-Azzam was the assassin’s target.

But the motive remains a mystery as none of the three victims had a criminal record or any known links to organized crime gangs.

On July 7, a gunman wearing a balaclava shot brothers William, 33, and Eric Siale, 20, at Abdel’s Salon on Marrickville Road. Both survived the attack.

On June 27, cocaine kingpin Moradian, 48, was gunned down in a brutal daylight ambush in an underground car park at Bondi Junction. According to police, he had a target on his back.

For ten months, the crime boss lived in constant fear of killers he rightly believed were trying to locate him.
