Manchester United announce new shirt sponsor as US technology firm Snapdragon agree a deal to cover the men’s and women’s teams kits that will start next season

  • Manchester United have signed a new shirt sponsorship deal with an American company
  • The Red Devils have signed an agreement with software supplier Snapdragon
  • The deal comes into effect next season and covers the club’s men’s and women’s teams

Manchester United’s search for a new shirt sponsor is over after the club confirmed they had struck a deal with US software company Snapdragon.

The software giant is a subsidiary of technology company Qualcomm, which was in talks with United to become the club’s new shirt sponsor.

The Red Devils have started looking for new shirt sponsors after announcing last year that their existing deal with TeamViewer would not be extended.

They later announced that an agreement had been made for United to buy back their shirt sponsorship rights and the club has since focused on new investments.

United confirmed their new sponsor on Tuesday in a brief press release which said: ‘Manchester United PLC has agreed to an extended strategic partnership with Qualcomm Technologies, Inc, which will see the Snapdragon brand appear on the club’s famous shirts.

“Qualcomm Technologies is already a global partner of Manchester United and promotes the Snapdragon brand. Snapdragon processors power premium products from the world’s biggest brands on smartphones, PCs, extended reality glasses, gaming devices, wearables and connected cars.

‘Under the extended agreement, Snapdragon will become Manchester United’s shirt partner from the start of the 2024/25 season, appearing in the home, away and third kits of the men’s and women’s teams.’

Reports on Monday suggested United were targeting a deal worth £60 million a year as they look to generate revenue from exclusive sponsorship partnerships.

Such a deal with Qualcomm could give United an edge over the current biggest shirt sponsorship package of Real Madrid and Fly Emirates.

United will be fielding their shirts with Team Viewer logos for the remainder of the current season after the decision was made to postpone the rebrand until next year given the number of shirts already in circulation.

The Snapdragon logo will feature on United’s iconic red home shirt, along with the away and third stripes of the men’s and women’s teams.

The deal comes at a time of rising tensions between United’s owners and loyal fans, with supporters regularly protesting against the Glazer family.

United supporters want the club sold to a new owner and are frustrated by delays in the ongoing process that originally started in November last year.
