Sydney Harbor Bridge crash: Massive multi-vehicle impact causes traffic chaos
- Several cars collided on the Sydney Harbor Bridge
- Motorists were told to use the Harbor Tunnel instead
Several cars have collided on the Sydney Harbor Bridge during rush hour, closing several lanes and creating chaos for commuters.
Motorists have been told to use the Harbor Tunnel instead of the bridge and to expect delays after two cars collided head-on at around 7.45am on Tuesday.
A commuter who passed the accident scene said it appeared as if three lanes were blocked by the wreckage and the fire trucks present.
Aerial footage showed traffic backed up bumper to bumper on the city’s lanes.

Authorities were able to clear the crash site around 8:15 a.m., with traffic flowing freely again in all lanes about 30 minutes after the two-car collision.
“Although all lanes are now open, traffic remains very heavy on the approach to the Sydney Harbor Bridge,” a Transport Management Center spokesperson said.
“Traffic in the city is heavy back towards the Lane Cove Tunnel, while northbound traffic is queuing over Anzac Bridge back towards Victoria Road.”

No injuries have been reported.
The Cahill Expressway and busway remained open.
