A blow for Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie: Exclusive MailOnline poll shows majority of Britons think Duke of York’s daughters should be REMOVED from line of succession

More than half of people believe the Duke of York’s two daughters should be removed from the line of succession, a MailOnline survey has found.

A Deltapoll survey commissioned by MailOnline asked pollsters about who should remain in the line of succession, and Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, the late queen’s granddaughters, did not fare so well.

About 57 percent of those polled said they would remove Eugenie, 33, and Beatrice, 35, from the current line of succession.

The number of major royals has reduced significantly in recent years, with neither Beatrice nor Eugenie standing on the royal balcony for Trooping the Color in June, with just 14 family members waving to the crowd, compared to 40 four years ago.

Beatrice and Eugenie do not receive any income from the Sovereign Grant, the government-funded £82.2 million that covers the Royal Household’s salaries, as they are not on an official royal engagement list.

This means they have had jobs outside The Firm, but this does not stop them from having busy social schedules that are often interrupted at parties and on foreign holidays.

Earlier this year, Sarah Ferguson, mother of Eugenie and Beatrice, praised her daughters as ‘great working mothers’.

The Duchess of York, 63, said this on her podcast Tea Talk Beatrice – who shares daughter Sienna and stepson Wolfie with husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi – and Eugenie, who shares sons August and Ernie with husband Jack Brooksbank – work ‘very, very hard’ and that she is ‘very proud of them’.

The sisters, who share a close friendship, receive no income from the Sovereign Grant and were praised by their mother, the Duchess of York, earlier this year for being 'great working mothers'.

The princesses’ father also did less well in the study. About 77 percent of those polled said they would leave out Prince Andrew, who was relieved of his royal duties in January 2022 with the late queen’s approval following the election. Jeffrey Epstein scandal.

Some 61 percent of those polled suggested the Duke of Sussex should also be deposed.

The Prince and Princess of Wales appeared to win the popularity contest. aAbout 70 percent of people are happy that Kate Middleton will one day be Queen Consort to King William.

The poll found that the majority of respondents believe both the Prince and Princess of Wales should remain firmly in the line of succession, with three-quarters of respondents believing Prince William should take the throne if his father dies.

On behalf of MailOnline, Deltapoll interviewed 2,009 British adults online between September 1 and 4, 2023.

The Delta Poll survey for MailOnline found that the Princess of Wales is among the most popular members of the royal family, with 70 percent of respondents saying they would not want to remove her from the line of succession to become Queen Consort.
