The couple then documented getting ready and enjoying a rare outing from their children, who were staying with their grandmother, Michelle Duggar.
In February, Duggar revealed that she suffered a miscarriage over the holidays in a nearly 19-minute YouTube video documenting her pregnancy journey and the aftermath of their loss.
The star – who has been married to 27-year-old Ben Seewald since 2014 and welcomed her fourth child in July 2021 – recalled the moment she found out about the miscarriage, when her sonographer told her: ‘The sac looks good . Not the baby.”
“Nothing could have prepared me for the weight of those words in that moment,” she said, adding, “In that moment I was just in complete shock. I had no words. I just immediately started crying.”
Jessa – who shares sons Fern, Ivy, Spurgeon and Henry with Ben – recalled how the technician then left the room as she and her husband were “trying to come to terms with the loss (as they sat there and held hands and cried”).
The TV personality started the video with touching footage of her and Ben telling their children she was pregnant.
Just a few minutes later, she gave a pregnancy update at 11 weeks, saying that overall things were going really well, but she was feeling “very sick” and had “some bleeding.”
“It seems a little concerning,” she said, adding that she had scheduled an ultrasound the next day to “see how everything goes.”

She later talked about the appointment, revealing that the technician sounded concerned as soon as she looked at the baby before telling her what happened.
“I feel like miscarriages can be so shocking in some ways because you don’t have any obvious signs that anything is going wrong,” she said. “I had minimal sightings for 24 hours, and that was it.”
Due to the risk of complications, Jessa went to a hospital and underwent a dilation and curettage procedure.
She recalled the heartbreaking moments leading up to it: “Just as they wheeled me back (to the operating room), I just wanted to ask, ‘Can I please have one more ultrasound? definitely,” she said.
“I was worried that maybe they had done something wrong… You know, it’s irrational, but you’re just scared.”
The star became emotional as he discussed waking up from the procedure, recalling the “hollow feeling inside” because “the life that was inside you is no longer there and you never got to see your baby and say goodbye.”
However, Jessa found comfort in her Christian faith, saying, “I was able to thank God in that moment for giving us this life, even though we wouldn’t be able to hold this baby in our arms.”
“When you lose someone so dear to you, it makes heaven so much sweeter. We talked about this with the children. We can’t wait to meet this little one in heaven one day,” she added.

At the end of the video, she announced that she planned to “take a break” from social media and focus on her recovery.
Jessa previously chose to welcome her fourth child in hospital, unlike her past three pregnancies, which were all home births – two of which ultimately sent her to hospital by ambulance.
She had given birth to Spurgeon, Henry and Ivy at home, but suffered dangerous bleeding twice, causing her to be rushed to hospital immediately after delivery.
All of the mother of four’s home births were caught on camera for the family’s TLC series Counting On, which has since been canceled.
