Rylan Clark reveals his mother Linda, 71, is recovering well at home as he returns to work at Radio 2 after her horror fall and surgery in Spain

Rylan Clark has revealed his mother Linda is recovering well at home as he returned to his job at Radio 2 on Saturday.

Earlier this month, Linda, 71, was rushed to hospital and required emergency surgery after a horrific fall while on holiday in Spain – her first getaway in 10 years.

As a result, Rylan was forced to withdraw from his radio presenting gig and was replaced by Scott Mills as he cared for his mother, giving fans updates on her health.

And after flying home on a private jet this week, Ryan was back at work and told how his mother is in good spirits and ‘chilling’ at home after her ordeal.

The presenter, 34, also compared the overwhelming support and messages he and Linda received to when someone had died.

Explaining the situation to his listeners, Rylan said: ‘Unfortunately decided to take mum Linda on holiday… she hasn’t been away for ten years. And what (was) she going to do? Falls over and breaks an arm and leg, what (are you) going to do? Classic Linda, classic Linda.

‘Now a little broken arm and leg, I can deal with that, but when you add that to everything else, there’s something wrong with her nightmare, especially abroad.

‘But we’re both back, mum Linda is home safe, she’s recovering, she’s chilling.

“Honestly, for lack of a better term, I don’t mean this in a rude way, it’s like someone has died. The number of people who have been in and around the house, there are flowers. It all happened.

‘All the neighbors come out. It was like someone coming home from the war.’

Rylan looked in good spirits as he entered the Radio 2 studios on Saturday morning.

The former It Takes Two host stayed cool in the warm weather in a tan T-shirt and matching cap, which he teamed with blue skinny jeans and black sandals.

During his radio appearance, Rylan thanked Malaga-based healthcare service Helicopteros Sanitarios for transporting his mother home safely.

He added: ‘The hospital took such good care of mum, gracias (thank you very much in Spanish).

“It was a five-star hotel, the hospital, they had champagne on the menu, I almost checked myself in, and you should have seen the physio (physiotherapist), I almost broke my own arm, oh my god.”

The star also thanked ‘the lovely Scott Mills for popping in last week’ and all his fans for their support.

It comes after Rylan praised the ‘dream team’ of staff who helped his mother Linda fly home from Spain after she suffered a horrific fall during their holiday.
