Shocking moment a couple discover a wall in their new home is packed full of empty bottles of rum

This couple talked about the shocking moment they discovered that one of the walls in their new home was filled with empty rum bottles.

Cathy and Roy Aukamp, ​​51 and 52, of New Jersey, were moving into their new home when they made the shocking discovery.

Just two days after moving into the house, the couple encountered a flooded basement following heavy storms in the area and they made the incredible find.

Cathy said, “My husband had to remove the wet drywall and bottles were pouring out of one of the walls.”

You can see the empty bottles fall to the floor, while Roy watches in what appears to be stunned silence.

Meanwhile, you hear Cathy ask, “Thirsty?” It’s five o’clock somewhere!’

After the couple shared a snippet of their discovery online, many Instagram users were stunned by the mass of bottles.

One Instagram user commented, “You bought a house from Captain Morgan himself!”

Another said, “There’s nothing funny about that, that poor person had a heavy addiction, and I’m sorry that the new chapter in your life had to start this way with your new home.”

But after Cathy posted the video online, she heard from the man who originally lived in the house and hid the bottles.

She explained, “The person who did it saw the video after it went viral, got in touch and said there are hundreds more, but also that he’s now three years sober.”

Their discovery comes months after another couple uncovered a truly terrifying secret while exploring a new property they’d just bought in East Sussex – so frightening it was considered a horror film set.

At the end of the video, as Roy looks around the room, his wife Cathy can be heard saying, “Thirsty?”

Husband and wife Steven, 54, and Carolyn Sparks, 42, discovered a secret room behind a bathroom wall in a Brighton property during a contractor survey that contained only one iron bed.

The pair needed detailed plans to renovate the property and during the investigation, Steven and the architect found the door to the secret room.

But when the architect went in to measure the basement, he forgot to mention the creepy single bed that was still there.

It wasn’t until the couple went out to explore again, torches in hand, that they made the terrifying discovery.

Images show the single iron bed taking up the width of part of the room, with exposed floors and walls and pipes surrounding it.

Disused boxes were also piled high in one corner of the room.

The room was part of the original Victorian house and was used to store coal. The images show an access hole outside where the coal would have been dumped.

After the property has been renovated, the only way to access the basement is through the hallway, but only to ensure that there is access to the pipework in case of an emergency.

In another twist, the room was considered the subject of a horror movie.
