Mason Greenwood is officially unveiled by Getafe in front of his watching partner as Man United forward is given a warm reception by fans at ceremony
Mason Greenwood has been officially revealed by Getafe after he was controversially loaned from Manchester United.
The attacker was presented alongside their other summer signings to the supporters of the LaLiga club at their Colosseum stadium in Madrid.
Greenwood came out of the tunnel accompanied by fireworks and smoke and walked to the center of the field to talk to the audience. His partner, Harriet Robson, with whom he shares a child, was also present in the stands.
Getafe was labeled ‘tone-deaf’ after calling out ‘MasonMania’ on social media following his arrival, but put on a glitzy display to welcome the player regardless.
Greenwood told those in attendance that he “felt good” and was “happy to be here.”

The 21-year-old then added: “We’re taking it game by game. I know the next home game is coming soon. We’re going to try to get the win and do our best.’
Greenwood, once at the top of England, was loaned to the Spanish top team for a season last week. Last month, United announced that the player would leave by mutual agreement after an internal investigation lasting just over six months.
The move came after criminal charges against Greenwood, including attempted rape and assault, were dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service in February.
Ms Robson was seen smiling in the sun ahead of the reveal on Instagram.
She posted pictures in her story to her 725,000 followers of herself smiling at the stadium, plus a Getafe shirt with the word “daddy” on the back and the number 12.
This is the number Greenwood will wear this season.

Thousands had gathered to welcome Greenwood, as well as other new signings Diego Rico and Oscar Rodriguez, and chanted his name. His signing has been heavily promoted on the club’s social media pages in recent days.
Indeed, Getafe shared a video of supporters queuing for photos with Greenwood and dubbed the clip ‘MasonMania’, sparking outrage online.
One account accused the social media operations of being ‘tone-deaf’, while another claimed the club had ‘zero shame’. Getafe was also criticized for declaring Greenwood ‘innocent’ despite the charges against him being dropped.
Greenwood was questioned about his fitness at the revelation, having not played a league game since January 2022, but tried to reassure supporters.
“I’ve been training for four or five months, so I’m up to speed,” he said. “With my teammates here, my first practice was good, so I feel pretty good.”
Earlier in the day, Greenwood participated in opening practice.

His loan deal is believed to contain an escape clause that would allow Getafe to send him back to United during the January transfer window.
Meanwhile, a domestic violence charity in Spain has criticized the decision to sign him and called on the club to reverse the divisive move.
But despite this, Getafe head coach Jose Bordalas has defended the club, although he admitted the situation was ‘delicate’.
“It’s a very delicate situation to downplay this issue,” Bordalas said.
“Everyone knows what happened and appropriate measures have been taken. Everyone knows how it ended, with a non-conviction verdict.
“He is a footballer of a very high level and comes to Getafe with enormous enthusiasm.”
