TattsLotto: Father wins $2.5million after wife bought lottery ticket from Cohuna newsagent
TattsLotto: Dad wins $2.5 million after his wife bought a lottery ticket at a newsagent in Cohuna
An Australian dad got a Father’s Day to remember after getting a lottery ticket before winning $2.5 million.
The man pocketed the prize money after his wife bought the winning TattsLotto ticket from her local newsagent in Cohuna, on the Victoria/NSW border.
His wife learned of the win before she could gift the ticket to her husband for Father’s Day.
“I scanned the ticket into The Lott app and it showed that we had won a significant prize, $2.5 million to be exact,” she said.
The lot was one of eight winning First Division entries drawn on Saturday.

The overjoyed wife said she “started crying” and waited for her husband to return from work to tell him the life-changing news.
“You should have seen his face when you told him. He just couldn’t believe it,” she said.
The shocked woman said the couple shed many tears as they told their children the big news.
“My husband had a tear in his eye before he could let them know,” she said.
“We said to them, ‘Listen, we have something to tell you. You have to listen to us.’
“They immediately thought something was wrong, that their father was sick, or that there was something serious.
The family plans to split the money among themselves.
“We’re not keeping the whole price,” the woman said. “We’re going to share the love.”
The winning lottery ticket, purchased from Cohuna Papers Plus, caused quite a stir in the city after the couple’s big win.
Owner Bernice Mackenzie said it was a special moment for the locals.
Cohuna Papers Plus was the local news outlet selling one of the winning tickets from the division 1 entries of the TattsLotto draw announced on Saturday
“This is the first division one winning entry that we sold at our point of sale, and we couldn’t be happier for our winner,” said Ms Mackenzie.
“Many customers came in to check their tickets and wonder if they were the mystery winner as the ticket had not been registered for more than two days.”
The winning numbers from Saturday’s draw were 9, 37, 32, 41, 40 and 16.
Of the eight Division 1 winners, three took home the award in Victoria and New South Wales, while one in Queensland and Western Australia also won.
