Kasper Schmeichel signs a one-year contract with Anderlecht after leaving Nice… despite the ex-Leicester star’s interest in the Premier League during the transfer window

Anderlecht closes with the signature of Kasper Schmeichel, after he became a free agent last week.

The Dane has had interest from Chelsea, Nottingham Forest and Brentford in recent weeks, but wanted to become number one or challenge at a big club.

He is prepared to sign a one-year contract with the Belgian giants.

Schmeichel became a free agent after an agreement was reached with Nice to terminate his contract.

The 36-year-old joined Ligue 1 on a three-year deal last summer after agreeing a transfer from Leicester.
