Angry Lyon ultras confront their players on the pitch with extraordinary fury after the 4-1 defeat to PSG… as they warn them about ‘tarnishing’ the club’s shirt
- Olympique Lyon lost 4-1 at home to Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday
- The Lyon players were given a public dressing up by the ultras after the game
- Laurent Blanc’s team is at the bottom of Ligue 1 with one point after four games
Olympique Lyon’s players received an extraordinary dressing-up from their fans, who warned them about ‘staining’ the club’s shirt after losing 4-1 at home to Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday night.
Kylian Mbappe scored twice and Achraf Hakimi and new signing Marco Asensio added two more as the Ligue 1 champions took a 4-0 half-time lead at the Groupama Stadium.
Corentin Tolisso’s penalty in the second half offered little consolation for Lyon, which is one point at the bottom of the table after four games.
After the final whistle, the players found themselves in front of the Virage Nord, which was home to the Bad Gones ultras – Lyon’s most prominent ultras group and one of the largest in Ligue 1.
The Lyon players stared sheepishly at the stands as one of the leaders of the ultras addressed them through a megaphone.

One of the leaders of the Bad Gones ultra group urged the team leaders to act
“To the Olympique Lyonnais 2023-2024 squad, this message is addressed to you,” he said.
“For those who take on the status of leader in the locker room, the message is clear: if there are leaders in this locker room, they no longer have the right to remain silent.
“You’re wearing the Olympique Lyonnais shirt. You are the ones wearing the Olympique Lyon shirt.
“Others before you have carried and glorified it.
“You have no right to sully it. Now that the transfer window is over, the squad is here. All we ask is to be by your side.
“But in order to do that, you’ll have to earn it. We love and respect this shirt.
“There’s only one more thing we ask: to sing your names. Sing them with love, not as we sang little *******’s names. who have left our club in the past six months.
‘We want to sing your names with respect, with love. Because we know you play with love.
“But we expect you to respect our jersey (…) and if we have to take our losses, we will do so with our heads held high. Go OL.’

Laurent Blanc is already under pressure at Lyon after taking one point from four games
As PSG moved up to second place behind Monaco, the result left Laurent Blanc’s future increasingly in doubt.
The former PSG and France manager guided Les Gones to a seventh-place finish in his first season in charge, but has endured a difficult transfer window that saw Lyon sell star Bradley Barcola to PSG for £43 million shortly before the deadline.
Lyon has also had a tumultuous summer off the field, with former owner and president Jean-Michel Aulas suing new owner John Textor for libel.
Aulas owned the club from 1987 until last December when he sold the club to Textor for £670 million.
