According to British Vogue, it will ‘dominate’ this fall; the softer version of the 1970s theatrical layers worn by A-listers was a big hit in South Korea and has now made its way to other shores.

The style’s hashtag has been viewed a whopping 64.8 million times on TikTok, with many on social media admiring its practical nature. It is also praised for looking flattering as it continues to grow out.

Celebrity stylist Marcus Francis says its popularity is due to how easy it is to maintain.

“Layering takes away a lot of the heaviness,” he said Rush. “So it makes it easier.”

Fans of K-dramas may be familiar with the chic, framing fringe and silhouetted look that comes with the low-key cut.

Hoyeon Jung, of Squid Game fame, has recently been pictured sporting the style’s signature wispy curtain bangs.

Lalisa Manobal, member of the popular girl group Blackpink, also traded in her signature choppy bangs for this haircut this summer.

Kim Se-jeong, known for her role in the romantic lead role in Business Proposal, has also shown how quiet she is on social media.

The West has also taken to this look, as celebrities seem to have asked their stylists for watered-down versions of the choppy, punkier mullets and wolf haircuts.

The trend can be seen in the years 2019 to 2020, when Miley Cyrus adopted a delicately styled, bleach blonde mullet-like cut in what has become a signature look for the singer.

The following year, Billie Eilish followed suit with a platinum bezel that graced the album artwork for her album, Happier Than Ever.

In 2022, Molly Mae Haag took to Instagram to share a photo sporting a glamorous version of the cut and exuding a Y2K vibe with her voluminous look. More recently, other Love Island stars have also sported this trend.
