Pat Cummins has fired back at Australia’s biggest critic, Piers Morgan, with the Test captain branding the TV personality ‘irrelevant’ in a cheeky response.
Morgan, 58, was England’s most vocal supporter on social media during the 2023 Ashes series, unleashing relentless criticism of the Australian team throughout the summer.
He was particularly saddened after Alex Carey’s controversial stumping of Jonny Bairstow at Lord’s, which lit the fuse for a hostile series between the two rival teams.
In that incident, members of the MCC exploded at the Australian team, while Morgan went on a rampage online, slamming the tourists against his 8.5 million Twitter followers.
But on The Late Show with Matty Johns, Cummins revealed how little he values Morgan’s opinion.

The TV personality has slammed the Australian cricket team for their antics during the Ashes
“When it comes to cricket you probably can’t name a more irrelevant person,” he joked.
Looking back at the tense scenes in the Long Room, Cummins said, “I have to say this would probably be the least terrifying crowd I’ve ever seen.”
Usman Khawaja added, “It caught us off guard. They came at you like a pack of dogs. One man was literally foaming at the mouth.’
Morgan recently lashed out at the Australians after several players lifted the lid on the atmosphere over lunch following Bairstow’s sacking.
In an interview with Channel 7, Marnus Labuschagne, Steve Smith and Usman Khawaja revealed that the English star was “fuming” with anger and confessed that they found his unfortunate reaction amusing.
‘I was in the lunchroom,’ Labuschagne said. “Jonny was steaming, absolutely steaming. He walked into the lunchroom and did not eat lunch.
“The Sky crew knew Jonny was there and they just replayed it on screen. And while you do, everyone is watching. Obviously he sees us all looking and says, “Are you happy with that?”
But the Australian captain insists he doesn’t care much about the Englishman’s opinion
David Warner spits out his chicken and says, “Yeah, whole.” The only words that were said.’
Smith added, “It was funny,” while Mitch Marsh said the Aussies struggled to suppress their laughter after Warner’s comment.
Morgan replied: “If there’s anything worse than Australia taking so blatant abuse of the spirit of cricket, it’s that the miscreants are now chuckling about it.
Stokes should play this video for his team before the next Ashes series. In fact, he should play it for them every day between now and then.’
