Topless mom, 38, who is accused of raping 15-year-old twin brothers used to run a RABBIT rescue out of father’s trucking office that cost her family $100,000 per year to keep afloat

A mother accused of raping two teenage brothers used to organize a rabbit rescue from her father’s trucking office — which cost $100,000 a year to keep it going.

Ashleigh Watts, 38, is accused of sexually assaulting the 15-year-old boy found in her bed at their $500,000 home in Chesapeake, Virginia.

She is also accused of assaulting the teen’s twin brother and has been charged with three counts of sexual assault and taking indecent liberties with a child.

The mother-of-two once helped her father, trucking company owner John Doub, run a rabbit rescue for more than a decade.

Watts, who faces up to 30 years in prison if convicted, worked full-time for her father’s rabbit rescue in 2011 — though it’s unclear if she’s found other work since then.

She told the Virginian Pilot at the time that she made sure the 45 bunnies she cared for at Virginia Rabbit Inc. got the “star treatment.”

“There are pellets and hay, the water bowls are refilled every day,” she said. “Mondays and Fridays are litter box cleaning days and I vacuum the cages all the time.”

Her father estimated that the family spends about $100,000 a year on the rescue, adopting about 100 rabbits each year for $50 each.

Watts was arrested after police came to her home looking for the teenage boy, with the married mother stalling police by asking them to wait outside while she put on underwear and walked her dogs.

Court records show that she eventually let them in and found the boy “hiding in a small space” under a mattress in an upstairs bedroom, wearing only boxers.

He confirmed that he was the teenager they were looking for and handed over his learner’s permit.

Initially, Watts was charged with contributing to a minor’s delinquency, but she has now been charged with misdemeanor.

Court documents show that both boys lived across the street from Watts and were friends with her son, with the mother praying for the boys for over a year before being arrested.

She is also charged with assaulting the teen's twin brother and has been charged with three counts of sexual assault and taking indecent liberties with a child.

An investigation was launched after an anonymous tip in February this year reported the ailing relationship.

Watt’s husband found his wife topless on the couch next to one of the teens, who was “pretending to be asleep” during an encounter at 2 a.m. later that month.

Police questioned the boy, who said he was inside the property smoking marijuana before falling asleep on the couch.

He said the families were “very good friends” and had an open-door policy at their home, adding that he and his brother regularly visited Watt’s house.

Officers assumed they were visiting her son before one of her victims confided in the abused patient to another neighbor.

A probable cause statement revealed that the teen told the neighbor that he had “had sex with Ms. Watts since June 2022.”

Authorities said after the alleged 13-month relationship came to light, the teen ran away from home and was found hiding in Watts’ bedroom three weeks later on July 26.

The boy was given clothes to change into and then taken to the Chesapeake Juvenile Services.

His brother told officers that Watts gave him underwear and regularly offered him marijuana, the complaint said.

The teen also confessed that he and Watts were in love and when he turned 17, the married mother would “divorce her husband” and marry him instead.

Watt’s husband, Andy, filed a protective order against her after her arrest, along with the boy’s parents.

The affidavit described large amounts of cash, marijuana and a prepaid cell phone found after her arrest.

Watts will appear in court in October. It is not immediately clear whether she has engaged a lawyer or filed a plea.
